One Life

I am having a once in a life time experience out in nature, in the woods right outside the kitchen window it begins.

There was a Blue Jay feeding on my feeder outside this morning when I got up and looked out, but he was all fluffed up and breathing heavily, as I watched him he was not feeding but just sitting on the feeder.

He's dying.

So outside I went in back with the dogs and crossed though the gate to see the jay, and it's sitting on a branch about four feet above the earth, still breathing heavily. I went up 3 feet to the bird and it didn't move. Wow, that has never happened in the 58 years of my life.

So now I'm going out to see the Jay again.

Now the Jay is on the ground under the tree where he/she was perched, still breathing.

10:00 am, have been working on my 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle of some air balloons in the sky, and went out to see the Jay.

Laying on his back in the leaves
Got a white plastic pan lid and put him there
Walked back to the house

Put the lid as a boat on the big water pot
on front deck... it's full
Now, the blue jay floats, dry.
