Interesting article on the decline and extinction of butterflies due to pesticides and possible climate changes.

And bees. And...well, the list is endless. Pesticides and herbicides cause untold damage to this planet and everything on it.

It should be startling far more people than it is, because they are our pollinators who make our fruits and vegetables and shade etc. possible. Why do you suppose this is happening?

Silver; i believe the main or a major cause is the pesticides and herbicides even in our own backyards/front gardens.

I know, crazy right? I use to chase these at a kid in the 80's. They were kind of pesty. I always saw them. Now, as a grown up, they are so rare to encounter on my nature walks. It's truly heartbreaking

last summer the only ones I saw were laying dead. It's not only pesticides, it is biological agents that are being sprayed into our airspace and sonic waves projects for manipulating weather.

Neonicotinoids may also have something to do with it. "Neonics" are a class of nicotine-like insecticides that are used in plants and they have a devastating effect on wildlife, especially bees. You can avoid "neonics" by buying organic. They are inside the plant so you might not even know that plants you are buying have neonics in them. That also goes for your decorative house plants and flowers. And of course do not use any chemicals or GMOs in your garden.
