Oh no, it's the Grand National...
I will be watching on television, heart in mouth...
Who will win? Who cares? If all the horses that start finish alive and uninjured I will be happy.

I stopped watching it years ago. If less people watch it and the ratings go down, perhaps eventually they'll stop broadcasting it - and hopefully one day no longer even hold the event.

I know what you mean, but I fear there is too much money involved for that to happen. Plus it is a sport patronized by those with wealth and power.
I would like to see it banned. Maybe one day, but not alas in my lifetime.

I am so glad. I absolutely cannot watch it any more, the dreaded "Beecher's Brook" is just torturous. All for money-eh?

There are so many "sports" which make my stomach turn. I particularly hate the bull baiting rituals in Spain. Those poor creatures.
