How do you see and use intuition?

The intuitive process is so integral to who I am, that subconscious process that has access to so much more information from all sources than the conscious does. Through it I filter most everything, from empathic readings to the creative process to linking ideas in a free form style to....

Yet it has come to my attention that many see the intuitive process differently, what they mean by it differs.

How do you define it and in what ways do you see it being used?

Hi Skeptical, (I had not read your post above before addressing this in another thread)
This is what I wrote (I thought I'd move it here)
My intuition (lol) says that to you, intuition comes from something deeper than you, such as 'spirit', 'source', etc.
Mine comes from intelligence, feelings, experience..........in the same way a detective gather clues, except for me it seems to come with very little clues needed. I figure movies out all the time before they end...lol
It's a hyper-alert sense that works in collaboration with all the other senses....and in all it's beauty, has been dead wrong before so it is not infallible.

The two are not the same and if that is your defintion of intuition, above, then yes we are not talking about the same thing.

May I move this part to my intuition thread? This could turn out to be a fascinating and deep discussion on it's own. For me it's both, as it does flow from deep within and does use my higher self too, but it uses all sources of information. It's when I overrule it with emotions, logic or underlying assumptions that it can come out distorted; otherwise it has been unerringly accurate.

LOL, I see we were on the same page there....

Yes we were...lol
Let me just say that I don't have a higher or lower self. There is nothing about me that is permanent such as spirit, soul or self (higher).
I am made up of all that you see and each part is impermanent and changing and subject to something else.
We are most definitely not talking about the same thing when it comes to 'intuition'.....and that's ok.

Well, I do need a term....I perceive no separation between higher self and self, it all just is a part of me. I sense I am so much more than just my body and brain; I make full use of what I sense too. Heck, I am not even sure where the surface leaves off and the rest begins, or where the layers underneath separate. While they are separate areas, they work together as one. Think of it as currents in an ocean with my whole being that ocean. For me, intuition can use all of it.

So for you, intuition is that putting together of it all from surface information and feeling like you've got it. It's just that sometimes you filled in the holes with assumptions so it came out wrong?

It's a nice 'thought'.

All I can say is that I have become aware of the 'need' to believe such thoughts. That awareness was enough to end such thoughts.

All it was was an analogy to paint a picture where words are limited to help share something. It's not how I see it really...there are no words for it.

I just feel everything about me is based on intuition and I always thought it to be the norm for everyone up until a few months ago, It's all just a bit weird for me at mo and I came here to try and make sense of it all but have not found many helpfull people :(

Can it be analyzed or understood ? Intuition is what it is, you just get the feeling or just know stuff without any rationale or foundation. that gut sensing.

A thing that happens without rhyme or metre. or so I thought.

On reading some member's accounts of intuition, it has become apparent to me that there is a confusion between gut feeling and intuition - as I have understood and experienced it (along with some others here).

Gut feeling is that which arises immediately and is liable to error - intuition never is. The intuition that I "tap" into comes from the divine. It requires having a receptive, empty mind and the knowledge received is always beyond that which I could ascertain for myself. I am prepared to concede that what I may be accessing my higher self. At times of inspiration I am in contact with my higher self which feels like my potential - perhaps a halfway stage to the divine....I can't really clearly define it.
