Haunted Hotels

Has anyone ever stayed in a haunted hotel? It seems like there are a lot of them around. Any experiences in a haunted hotel?

Most do not have 13th floors for our safety.

Yeah, Shim I have heard that...Most of the ones I have heard of are usually old historical hotels. It will be interesting to hear if there are any stories among the members here on SF.

Hi nightowl,

A very interesting subject and you're right: hotels are often loaded with spirit. Mostly residual-type energy, however...but a disproportionate amount of actual interactive energy/sightings, as well. It’s the nature of all those people coming and going/imprinting their energies onto the environment, I think.

Hospitals, schools, churches and bars are also notorious for hauntings for the same basic reasons, and, in the case of hospitals: deaths.

I’ve stayed in many hotels and cannot, off the top of my head, recall running into any major interactive spiritual energy (lots of residual energy, though). I did stay in one hotel a few years back which was located in a town which had a particularly gruesome history. The entire town was haunted, however, and had my entire spiritual and psychic self completely frayed within moments of arriving (I'd never witnessed anything quite like it). The hotel was recently built there, but was pretty much haunted by default.

Interesting...isn't it something how violence seems to have so much to do with spirits hanging around..

Yes, that’s very sad, but appears true. One of the first questions on a paranormal investigation: any violent acts or deaths on the site? Sudden deaths seem to confuse (or anger, etc.) the person’s spirit into sometimes hanging around. Violence, with or without death, leaves strong psychic imprints on the environment, as well.

Back in 2009 - actually Halloween weekend we went up to Nashville, TN to see a college football game and we were staying at a nice hotel but man it was pretty haunted!! It wasn't so much what happened but all the energy was pretty overwhelming at times for me - not just in the hotel but surrounding the campus. The school was Vanderbilt which is a very old university. And being there during Halloween made it more intense. It wasn't negative just over whelming at times. A few times I did feel like I was being watched only I ignored it and it stopped. Maybe they were ghosts of Vandy football fans coming out to see the game! lol I often feel a lot of spirits and energy during games at Bobby Dodd Stadium when we go to Georgia Tech football games here in Atlanta. Bobby Dodd is one of the oldest college football stadiums in division I so I wouldn't be surprised who is there!
