Hello 'slice
I feel that it is a matter of how well one's philosophy works for them. If your philosophy is working well for you, then that is good. If someone else feels a sense of purpose and that works well for them, than that is good too. (I can't claim that I personally have it figured out yet though).

I think it's better to make life purposeful, and have something to live for. I like to be dedicated to something meaningful, it gives me a sense of purpose.

Recently someone posted a video of this guy who got us all amped up with his story about a roller-coaster ride. He was saying life is a ride, and his audience was like AWE. Actually the saying 'life is a roller-coaster' is really a common cliche which means we're prone to the ups and downs.
Life isn't actually a ride or a roller-coaster, and dressing a common cliche in spiritual robes doesn't make it more meaningful, and why would we enjoy life if there's a lot of bad stuff going down? Why not not enjoy life if that's the case. If there a lot of good stuff going down, then enjoy it while it lasts, but the cliche stands the test of time, life has its ups and downs.

There are way too many discrepancies in the bible for it to be "the one and right theory or beleif". Multiple stories in the same book, "law" contradictions, and stories that did not appear first in the bible.
Life is the closet thing we can get to a perpetual motion "machine" on the planet. Life replicated, mutated and adapted over billions of years due to unique circumstances on the planet. Replication needs sex of some sort.
The initial life poped into existance due to a random mixing of ammino acids and matter. There does not have to be any "reason" as to why this happens, because things pop in and out of existance all the time in the quantum level, and to some extent in our level as well. Random mutations are part of life.
Basically, the purpose of life was to further its own existance. Plain and simple.
In our case it does seem to be diferent. It seems like other species cannot think quite like we do. We have the ability to plan ahead, and ask "why" and have a massive line of communication and ways of expressing out thoughts (which are "why" "how" rather then "must... eat". We think rather the act completely instinctive.
So in OUR case, rather then the normal " we are here to survive to reproduce", we have a sense of choice, therefore our reasons for being here are basically what you wish it to be. IF you think youre here because of god well, you are. If you think youre here to teach humanity the ways of non violence, then you are. IF you think we are here just to be here and learn and make any choice we can, then we are.... That does not mean there was a diety to create us either.... And that does not mean "religion" is right as well
The reason we exist, is our own choosing, on top of the usual " to further our species/survival" aspect of life.

There is an idea that life is a miracle because it contradicts what one would expect scientifically. The idea is that there is entropy - things go from an organized state to a disorganized state - yet life does the opposite. The fact the we are even surviving is amazing. But there is still the question WHY are we surviving? A sense of purpose is a human feeling - maybe even with a sense of purpose we can't answer why we are surviving. And a bigger question is why is there something rather than nothing?

A part of god wanted to experience what existance was like in a physical realm, to feel a body, to have emotions and to have sensations that come with a physical body. So a part of the divine slowed down its vibrational rate to create this plane, time space etc., and here we are!

See, its a misconception that life "contradicts what one would find scientifically". Life is abundant in the universe. There doesnt have to be a reason why life started at all, we just want to be special snowflakes. Survival is just to survive and its only purpose is to further that line of genes. That is how it evolved.
How is it less "special" to be able to choose your own path? Thats more interesting then some sky wizard with a bad temper

I'm not arguing for creationism. I'm just saying its pretty amazing life exists if you consider everything working against it.
I don't think survival is everything. Much of what we do has little to do with survival. Love, music, art, spirituality... That's not to say it is pointless.

Love is an adaptation for survival. Out brains are too big, so human woman evolved to give birth to "undeveloped" young. The other adaptation that goes with this is our close knit communities, in which we let the group help raise our young - unlike chimps or other apes, who wont let the babies out of body contact for a year or more....
Spirituality is partially the reason why we even have civilization. It seems to be the reason for the oldest magolithic structure known (gobleki tepe), it even predates farming (for the most part). Religion helped us survive the ice age belive it or not. It gave people a reason to meet and share food, stories and genetic lineages.
Also, i didnt mean to incinuate that you were only talkin about christianity, its just the most common belief.....
