Woman In My Eyes

WOMAN IN MY EYES

When life crashed down around me
I stared into my eyes
Some woman stared straight back at me
and took me by surprise

Poor thing, you’re trapped, I’ll save you!
Hang on I’ll soon be there!
Right now I’m awfully scattered,
with no energy to spare.

Then life got even darker
and storm clouds filled my skies
I held on tight, I’d made a pact
with the woman in my eyes.

She spoke to me through poetry,
with wizened woman's lore
That slipped whole to my consciousness,
like a mail slot in a door.

For years she was my only hope
or purpose for my days
I sought her freedom endlessly
and pushed through life's dull maze.

Then the veil between us faded
and I could make identity
She’s my own soul light within my heart,
and it was she who was saving me.

Now, years later, I do believe this to have been a glimpse at my Guide or Higher Self. I have seen this set of eyes many times in dreams and other altered states. She reminds me of the Rabbit in Alice In Wonderland, a fleeting figure who shows up to show me the way; tantalizing me to follow.

In fact... I decided to change my icon to this painting from a photo of Nellie Bly, an American Hero. Her piercing eyes and the statement, "The question is not can it be done. The question is, do you want to do it?" jarred me from complacency in 2013, around her 160th birthdate. She travelled around the world in 72 days for her newspaper. Seeking a tailor to make an overcoat to her specifications and time limit, when he waffled a bit, that is what she said to him. She got her coat.

Is that the circle of the self I see in the background?...

And I swear I can sense that fleeting figure in your poems... tantalising us all to follow... I'm coming!

LOL, I thought so too, but it is a porthole on the ship she sailed away in on her fantastic journey, November 14, 1889. She was 25 years old. I was writing a round robin story with three friends. It became my turn to add when someone left our character looking across a meadow, and seeing a woman in a blue dress. I decided to have a notable American Woman come to share her wisdom with us, and began researching. There she was, Nellie the Amazing and in a blue dress! I fell in love with her spunk. Real name was Elizabeth Jane Corcoran. She also got herself admitted to an "Insane Asylum" and did an expose of the care that caused sweeping changes in the care of the mentally ill.

The icon I replaced is a photo of a sock doll that represented me as a child. Hands in pockets, no voice, no capacity to go on her journey (no legs). Just growing lots of brown hair and taking in the world around her. I love her deeply, but she no longer suits to represent me. I'm going through some changes inside that are welcome indeed.

I love that poem, Abbara...shortened for space only.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru
