How you do symbols?

I know I've been taught to draw each of the symbols necessary for any given session. However, I've been testing and noticed no difference whether I draw it, imagine it, or just say it in my mind 3 times. From what I understand, many advanced practitioners do not draw the symbols. It's there to put the intention there since we give these symbols the power of our intention and that's what we are activating--so visualizing or saying the name is supposed to activate your intent. The only symbol I draw is the Cho ku Rey on my palms and sometimes on the client. I don't really know if it makes it stronger or if it's just for my psychological benefit, but that's just one part I don't avoid drawing. What are your thought/experiences on this?

Also, for masters out there giving attunements, do you also skip the drawing of symbols during attunements? That is one that I have yet to NOT draw, and probably won't ever skip that part but I always wondered if some do during the attunements themselves.

Same here. I find it's just as effective. I believe it's all about intent and once we've put exactly our intent into the symbols, than chanting or imagining fulfills that intent. the cho ku rei is just so easy to draw and fast so I draw that one. Plus I believe some clients get intimidated when they see me drawing all kinds of invisible things over them or myself.

All the courses I've studied, they say it's the intent that counts. Symbols activate the energy, but the thought counts most. As the energy flows through you more and you're used to focusing your thoughts, you don't need symbols anymore.
That's what I read all the time.

I really feel that it's all about intent. That once we get to the point that we have our intention 'trained' well enough if you wanted to use a smiley face for your symbol and give it proper intention that you can.
I know that when I have spoken about this to my teacher that she said generally she doesn't use the symbols, just the intention. Though if she feels she really needs to kick it up a notch for the client that she will use the symbols then to help reaffirm her intention.

When I was first learning reiki I could feel the symbols, after a while I didnt feel them and didnt use them. My vibration went way above them and it does nothing for me. This also happened to me with higher levels of Usui reiki such as karuna. After a while, my vibration went above them. This is only because I had a hige spiritual awakening and huge soul growth in a very short time. I have heard though that reiki practitioners after a while just stop using symbols.

Yeah intention counts
A symbol has power the more people give it power
If drawing it helps you focus or link to it, then draw
Most important thing for reiki is for your heart chakra to be open
Without the heart, it's like trying to turn on a lamp without the cord plugged into the socket
The open heart allows you to enter the energy field of another person
And love heals
