Julia Assante's The Last Frontier....
Ive just finished reading it, it's probably the best book of the many so far I have read on the subject of the afterlife, not too fluffy and balances the anecdotes and stories with the science well. Of course, the rational Wiki site dismisses her as a crank but I found her convincing. Of course, you have to take her mediumship claims with a leap of faith but she does at least have a firm academic background. I would recommend the book.
