Any thoughts on this?

I was looking for insight into if it was possible for a fae/elemental spirit to be embodied in a mortal? I apologize if this seems like a silly question.

Thank you
Starpixie

You mean like the Otherkin?

Yeah, there's a huge stigma attached to those people, but I don't see why not. Tori Amos spoke about being a possible descendant of the Tuatha de Danann.

As far as I know, yes. I mean, if you think about it, and read all the stories, fae and other mythical beings are as apt to impregnate a human as humans are, of not more so. My Ex knows several, including faerie-kin and elf-kin.

How would one be able to tell if that were the case with someone?

1. Just look for the absence of the philtrum on your suspect. The fae's children are supposed to have a flattened or smooth philtrum.
2. Most of them are born as albinos.
They may also be born with ears shaped like bat's ears, but that's very rare.

I would expect for them who have awakened into their gifts from the other side to use illusion to appear normal to people except from people whose got the second sight. Or the fae parent may also choose to do it for the child, depending on conditions, etc.
In short answer to your question is
through the second sight.

Sometimes they just feel it, and you believe them. That's why there's such a stigma around otherkin being "attention-seekers" and "special snowflakes", because there's no proof that they aren't just human except for their word.

Back when it was an accepted suspicion, signs could include that a baby would eat a lot and lose weight until it wastes away and dies (but that could have been from any number of undiagnosed digestive problems), that if it lives to grow up then it could be unusually unintelligent (that's where the word oaf comes from, or aulfe) or unusually intelligent but easily distracted, gifted with music and poetry, being left-handed, or basically anything that makes a person too different would be blamed on fairy blood or changeling origins by townspeople. I've heard from a friend of a friend who did a past life regression that the habit of calling a male homosexual a "fairy" isn't a modern thing, because gender-fluidity might also have been blamed on being fay, but then again it might just have been imagined rather than a historical fact.

Of cause, the Fae incarnate like all others entities.
Look in the mirror.

people once commonly believed in changelings, where a fae spirit switched places with a baby but otherwise appeared human. they were generally rather feared on account of their fairy relations.
the true story of Bridget Cleary in Ireland 100 years ago was where her husband became convinced a fairy had switched places with her, and tried the standard way of exorcising it by burning it/her. She died and he was convicted for murder, the judge not buying his story.
