Animal Totem question

A few days ago during meditation. I saw a bird- I think it was a dove or a swallow...I'm not really good at distinguishing birds so I'm not exactly sure.

This bird flew towards me and starred me in the eyes. I felt such peace when I saw it and it flew around me 3 times before disappearing.

I was so excited to see it and I'm wondering if it is my totem.

Can anyone offer a suggestion as to how I know if this bird is my totem?

If so, how do I communicate with it?

It could be. Either way, it is a lovely thing to see. When I first started developing clairvoyance (which isn't dissimilar to images during meditation imo) I saw a lot of doves. I haven't seen them since but I like to believe each one was a message of peace and love.

I'm not sure how you will know if it's a totem or not. In some ways perhaps it doesn't matter? The image came to you and clearly has a message for you, probably a sign of peace and love. If you see it again perhaps you could ask it something?

Thanks Starbuck, that seems to make sense since I was going through some emotional stress then. It did bring an overwhelming sense of peace.. Just seeing it and how beautiful it appears and flies.

I haven't thought of trying to actually ask a question, if I see it again..I will.
