guide - interpretation

I am a complete beginner so forgive me if my questions are a little niave.
I was trying to connect to my guide today.. As far as I can tell I have 3 I think.. I was asking the name.. the man I had the same name running through my head so I am taking this the second is a female but when I asked her the name I had an image of an old dog my nan had she was called penny I am taking that to mean this is her name or could there be another reason to have this.. The third guide is a male but he did not want to speak.. I just had an image of an older man.. What sort of questions should I ask to verify that what i am getting is right and to get to know them all better.

I can't really tell you how to verify this because I still don't know how to verify answer I get but I think it's pretty cool to already had all theses information :)

Thanks for reply.. I have been trying to connect and the images get clearer Im trying to remember to write everything down. It is so interesting and love reading other peoples experiences.
