TOSS THE BALL TECHNIQUE

Close your eyes, become quiet, and center yourself. In the clear space in

front of you imagine an empty chair facing you. Let someone you currently

having trouble communicating with, or just a friend, come in and sit down in

the chair. Make eye contact but don't say anything.

Notice on the floor next to you is a ball. Pick it up and set your intentions

to an easy game of catch with the other person, then toss the ball to that

person. Notice how that person catches it and toss it back. Is the person

cooperative? If not, start again with clear intentions to have a game work

smoothly. Continue until the exchange comes even. Then set the ball down.

Say something to your partner that you've always wanted and needed to

say, and let the person hear you and acknowledge you. Then let your

partner say something to you that he or she always wanted and needed to

say, and hear and acknowledge the statement. Reach next to your chair and

pick up a gift box. Give it to your partner. See what your soul has given

this person. Then let your partner give you the box, and see what's inside.

Thank each other and let the person get up and leave. Open your eyes and

write about it in your journal
