I know there is a meditation area, but there are so many kinds, here...
So many reasons to meditate...so many diff kinds.
I feel more at home here in Hinduism.
We know (I hope I'm not being presumptuous) devotion.
We know that we sit in silence and stillness to love our Divine One...whatever form, by whatever Name.
I think we all feel the Divine Romance that is in that Secret Place (in Psalm 91...)
in our hearts for our Lord.
May we all remind each other to always go within to be 'Him' or 'Her'.
I just love what Ramakrishna said..I want to taste the sugar, not be the sugar.
All meditation is wonderful, stilling the mind, etc...I suppose being mindful..
but we that gravitate to the Hindu way...want Bliss, the 1000 Pedaled Lotus Flower within,
the Light that is Brighter than 10,000 Suns...
we are a bit different...we don't want a little bit of 'peace of mind', in my exp.
We want total immersion into Self-realization, God-realization...
As Yogananda says...God has everything we have ever wanted.
And we are humble enough to know this.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru.

Namaste.
In the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra..also called the Radiance Sutras, there has been outlined 112 different ways to meditate...but this is only in ONE book.
I also love to meditate on the glory and love of the Divine, feeling the presence and fullness within my heart...but that is only one aspect, albeit the main one.
I also love to make my hands dance...I don't think about what position they are going into or how I will arrange them..I start with my fingertips together, fingers spaced, then just watch the dance unfold by itself.
Also, shiny things transfix me...place a Swarovsky Crystal ornament on the windowsill in direct sunlight and go for it! If you have one of those machines that make it spin around, all the BETTER!
Little things tend to get my FULL attention...colour changing fibre optic lamps with 6 colours or more, laser light shows on my ceiling... watching a hypercube morph into 11 dimensions or endlessly zooming into the Mandelbrot Set..focusing on the Sri Yantra, layer by layer...forward, reverse..forwards again... placing myself between two large mirrors, into a mirror tunnel and try to find out where my reflection ends...or am I merely the reflection of a reflection?
Then, there"s doing stuff like raking my Zen sand garden, colouring in Mandalas and Yantras of my own.. designing mandala patterns with coloured sand, conscious knitting...oh yeah...knit one, purl one, slip one, pass the slip stitch over...until some kind of Mantra takes its place for every row that I do..
Then there are my Play-Doh, Crystal Mud, Slime and Silly String sessions...oh the joy of acting like a kid and decimating the whole house...of course you are going to have to clean it all up later, but try not to think about that as you nerf-ball all your lamps and vases.
Suffice to say, I am almost in constant meditation now.
Aum Namah Shivaya

Thank you Miss Hepburn, a lovely reminder of my own preferences.
I can look at a picture of the divine and be lost in it (until my ego draws me back to earth), I try to explain to many people about the benefits of immersing oneself in an aspect of the divine, and tell them that is what those aspects are for, that is; divinely sent turbo charges for our spiritual development back to our true self. So few, even amongst Hindus really get it.
Lovely reminder - Thank you

Meditation is the only way to know God.
Glimpses here and there, moments of grace that come out of no where
are wonderful.
But meditation is where the tires hit the pavement.
This is where the sincere devotee dips his toe in the water.
It is a practice.
Because one day we will be like a statue of salt...finally
wanting to really measure and go into the Ocean.
And that is what we have to practice...not to be afraid of that day.
