Asked to see past life

I think working on being specific/clarity of intention about this subject may help. Just like when booking a trip with a travel agent saying I wanna go to America,
but then there's the question of where in/which port or airport of America you would be arriving directly into.
Being clear in mind which part of the past life (like your life as a child in your last incarnation) you request is what I mean. And that's just a thought.

This reminds me of being asked by a guide where I wanted to go sometime ago, and my immediate answer(which is what immediately came into mind) was to the Stairway to Heaven. However, the dream ended too soon.
And when it finally happened/manifested, I was alone.
I had been shown this massive tall rosey/bronze stairway rising up the sky infront of the deck of my room.
As I climbed up, I felt myself expand into a giant being while climbing it (kinda made it awkward) but I decided I'll get on the top of it. But when I reached the top, I felt even more awkward of the height of it being beyond the clouds.
The thing is I had also been lost for words about the whole thing,
let alone think ahead and get to the point.
It would have helped if I had an exact idea of what I wanted to see over it at the time. So, I slowly ended it.
