Cannot Focus!

Any natural remedies, or herbs to help in focusing?
I can't even believe how distracted I get or even careless about completing a task.
I tend to think I have all the time in the world but that's not the case...
Almost failed my second year in university because of this horrible mind set.
I know you might be thinking, woman get Ritalin! haha but honestly, before I surrender to any chemical medications I would love for any advice in potential natural remedies.

Katty--
You might look into the amino acids. They are the natural building blocks of all proteins, but there is a subset that cross the blood-brain barrier quickly and can focus the mind a lot.

Everyone is different so I hesitate to even suggest. Lysine is one of the "inhibitory" types (as opposed to stimulatory). I would think that the stimulatory ones would hype you up & not encourage focus.

They are available without prescription and are reasonably priced. You can PM me and I can hook you up with some basic materials about them if you want.

I've had the opposite problem--never turning off. Just the other day I realized that I watched a whole half hour news show and didn't pay attention to it. That is extremely rare for me. In some ways it's a good thing for me, although I don't want to get too drifty!!

Thank you! I would love to hear some options. I will definitely look into the amino acids. Perhaps I am just lacking some obvious nutrients. I have recently introduced an organic raw diet.... temporarily. Just to detox :) afterward I will eat small amounts of clean meat and such.... in hopes of curing my issue.. lack of focus and in times carelessness.

Hi Katty,

Have you looked into the Bach Flower Remedies?

White Chestnut is terrific for meditation and focus.

Clematis is for the people with that far-away-look...they're physically with us but their minds are travelling through space.

Your health store may be able to help you pick the best flower remedy for you

I have the exact same thing lately! Feel like I'm in another world at times.

Omega 3 fatty acids are meant to be great for concentration so you could try a good complete supplement which includes EPA, DHA and ALA. I also know that Ginko Biloba, an antioxidant, are shown to be beneficial for concentration and memory.

Make sure you have a healthy and balanced diet, as this can also effect concentration.

A website I often get supplements from is called healthspan, it might be worth having a look. I think they do something called a "brain synergex" which is a mixture of various vitamins, antioxidants, herbs and omega 3, which could be beneficial for you.

I'd give any supplements listed above a try. If these do not work, make sure you book an appointment with your GP as they may be able to help!
