My teacher looks like my "guide"

Or what I thought was my guide. Brownish hair, old school cut, tall and lanky.

It's weird.

I haven't seen an image of the "guide" for a while. Maybe he wasn't my guide at all.

How do you know if a guide is a guide or not?

I don't think my teacher is. It was just weird.

everyone we meet acts as a guide, they'll point towards where they believe
salvation or happiness exists through their expressed thoughts and actions.
i suppose that the same is true for spiritual entities: they'll advocate for
the values they hold in esteem through their communications and deeds.

if someone/something consistently points towards [guides] in the directions that seem
appropriate for you (or whomever), then that might become a reliable guide for you.
there are situations in which people have "contractual" guidance.
since all parties involved must be aware of the scope of the contract in
order for it to be valid, the guide, and her function, should be recognizable.
unless, i suppose, it were part of the contract to be unaware; still, at some
(higher) level of understanding, it is known.

What you saw in your teacher wasn't your real guide, but a reflection of your inner guide. When the picture of your teacher changed, you were disappointed.

However your inner guide would never change, and would never disappoint you.

That's because, like everyone else, the inner guide which resides in your deeper mind is part of the universal mind which we all belong to, and incarnate. It would never disappoint you because it doesn't work against its own expectations.
