Are there more than 8th chakras?

Depends on who you ask. My father taught 14 that I know of. Some claim as many as 22.....possibly more. Very few people need to worry about more than seven for now.

For me, I meditate as part of my living.
My approach has usually been 'I have desire x, so I'm going to use meditation to work toward accomplishing x.'

I think many people struggle because they say, 'Meditation is supposed to be good, so I'll start meditating' with no clear reason or desire as to why. Then, they will try to find a method that explains how they are SUPPOSED to meditate or why they are SUPPOSED to meditate.

That is why I wrote those posts about how important a strong desire is. The focus should be on what you currently desire and not on the meditation part. People say 'I can't meditate consistently' but really it should be 'I can't hold a desire consistently'.

I'm curious how this has been coming along for you Vince. Are you making progress in that regard?

Absolutely. It's essentially a matter of consistent mindfulness. The tricky part is releasing the unwholesome mind states before acting on them.

Is this view about more than seven chakras mentioned in ancient scriptures or is it a new-age view?

Sounds like you are using meditation to make LOA stronger and more effective. Interesting...Maybe with more practice you could be able to manifest your desire instantly.

for me, it is a little of both. the first seven are kind of the same but the next set are not suspended above the head. that is linear thinking and spirit is not like that. the next set is as before but not understood.

the 8th is at the back and base of the head. the 9th 10th and 11th are the double named chalras. we have always had them. nothing new age. still from the old. the base and root are two different ones. the brow and third eye are separate. and the sacral or navel are really twp separate ones.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I'm prone to assume that if my father was teaching it it probably had an established history but I've never thought to ask him about it. I wouldn't assume anything, which is why I mostly ignore it. In truth the more I learn and study the chakra system the more I think of it as just a handy reference, concepts to be used and played with rather than a physical presence of any kind.

I've never heard of this, do you have a reference? I would love to look into it more.
I've always heard of and imagined it thusly:

Hope that works.

i know, i know. it is from a class. i went to a school in the sky for about four years.

the proof is in the system itself. the picture that goes along with this lesson is also different now. the plotting of the chakras go along with a triangle(where have we seen this before). the first three are the triangle. the first three are all about you./ \ yin, yang and _ the figure it out or lower brain gut feeling.

then, the heart will open. then it is no longer about you. it is about you and others. it took the heart to bring you out of the "it is all about you" phase. the triangle is then imbedded inside of the next set. for it is still about you growing. / \ _

now for the really good part. the part you are in now. the 8th will bring you out of the material world. the picture of this is the triangle to start then the triangle gets turned around and the two together form the star of david. we have seen this before too. that is why the star is so important. the 8th is at the back and base of the head. it makes the inverted triangle. it is activated via meditation. the controlled breathing affects the amount of air in the blood the amount of air in the blood by the carotid artery. this awakened the carotid gland. each chakra works via a gland.

the next three chakras form the new, inverted triangle. the double named chakras are the 9th, 10th and 11th. you have had them all the time. for many they were already opened. the root or the base are really two chakras. one is for the base of whom you are in the first set. the root is for the going into other lives in lives gone by. (not reincarnation but i can get into that later). the navel and the sacral have a dual purpose as does the third eye and the brow. that is the whole reason they are double named. they are off sight and not in the material body. that is why they are able to unite us with spirit. they are the bridge.the whole reason spirit communication is possible. we have always had it. we always will.

now for the realllllly interesting next set. the star of with the 12th, the star of david has more triangles put upon it and it transforms into the lotus. soooo cool.

collectively, the 8th is opening. not only because we are working on it but just as jesus and Buddha opened the tap to the heart, the tap to the 8th and unity has been opened and it is about to become a flood gate. i am not into the whole tf thing. i am older. but the reason the young are into it is the unity chakra is opened. they feel in union with another and do not know how to explain it yet.

sorry i do not have pictures but the class i was in did.
