Personally I reveal my innermost self to people I come to respect and consider trustworthy, but this comes with time and one step at a time which I found to be the best course of action for me. I follow a "middle road" of sorts, I don't open up completely right from the start and I don't become a tightly closed cocoon either. I show a bit more of myself and see reactions, then a bit more if things go smoothly and I can have the understanding and acceptance I need and want. If people use and abuse this or rush to judge, condemn or endlessly give advice I simply have to follow, then I back off and distance because I know very well there's only hurt further down the road.

I'm quite an open book, but it does hinge on where and who, so in general the vibe. In general I'm too open and I've experienced more than once that people either have a problem with that or they don't believe you when you're honest.
I've tried to change, but I can't.
Daring to be vulnerable and open to me doesn't equal talking about things that are considered taboo or that require the right place and the right time.
If you'd end up talking to someone nice and then throw in your sex-life... more than a bit weird.

I think being too judgmental is not only hurtful but counter-productive to a flourishing relationship.
I have to say when people endlessly give advice, that one I find annoying. I feel anyone who would do that is not really trying to help but to play a domineering role. It's like they're saying, "you're too stupid to figure this out." That's not a relationship I want to be in.

An interesting question that has to do with the thread topic is whether or not you would allow your family and friends to read your posts on this forum.

No, but if they (my family) asked if i were here i wouldn't deny it or fuss over it if they found out. Frankly, i wouldn't be surprised if they already know. Considering i use this site while at their computer while dog sitting.

It depends on the person, and the situation.
Eventually, if you listen closely, people tell you who they are.
