Free will and choice go hand in hand but one requires to know consciously all the facts to know if the choice they are consciously making is through an immediate choice or a choice that has already been made. A choice that has already been made due to past actions or not.

Did one’s past actions come about through free will or were they because of previous actions prior to that lol ..

It really is like a game of chess and at some point in the game you only have a few pieces left to move ..

What he's talking about is Life's Purpose. Karmic Obligations or whatever else you care to call it. "We are here to learn the lessons" works just as well. It's not some kind of far-out Spiritual concept and the theme of the video is very common. If Spirituality is to be believed then we signed up for this. The you have the threads which ask about the reasons why God allows such suffering. This is what people do with Free Will. People hurt others because God gave them the Free Will, and God gave the people who can't understand the Free Will to not want to understand. So while God gives us Love under Free Will he's crying in his beer and banging his head on the table. Or he's laughing his cotton socks off at the irony of it all. Thinking that you don't have Free Will is Free Will.

You're working on autopilot more than you think you are, because you don't make conscious choices - your subconscious makes choices and then 200ms later (although the times do differ according to study) you become conscious of it. Oh, and ignoring that because it's not labelled as Spiritual is also Fee Will, but actually it's a choice that your subconscious has made for you in the shape of a survival mechanism. It would give some people a headache to think about or it would cause conflict in their reality so best to ignore it.

Your subconscious taking over/making choices might be true for a lot of people but not all. In fact in a book I read, a spiritual practice was to direct the subconscious to override anything that wasn't coming from the Higher Self. I would disagree that it's a survival mechanism.

As we become familiar with other members, do we not know how some will respond to our post before we post it?

As computers get faster, cheaper and memory gets faster, cheaper and the computer program can use more memory,
we will reach a period were computers can predict what we will do in the future based on past and future history.

If we are highly predictable, do we really have free will?
