To our wise ones.
Rivulets of wisdom
frame windows
overlooking deep oceans
of burning vividness
wild as quenchless flames
are their eyes when speaking
eucalyptus to the Aussie bear
bamboo to the two-toned
fire to earth's keepers
are their words when heeded

Wonderful voice, GreenGazer. So full of power and strength.

thanks starflower :) A photo of my grandfather inspired the above poem. I never got to meet him. He died a few weeks before my older sister was born. But I have read many of his journals and spoken to many who loved him (he had lots of friends). He was quite the philosopher, born and raised in Switzerland, spoke seven languages. Self taught. He had friends from all walks of life. This is a poem written by one of his dearest friends about him after his death. She was a clairvoyant from southern California, sort of well known in her time, Diane Sweet- (personal poem. never published. not copyrighted.)
Personification of Life
Erudite in Mind
Vigor and energy of spirit
Depth and passion in soul
Outspoken, straight to the point
Generous with thoughts deeds and advice
Sympathetic to helpless and weaker creatures,
Be they animal or human.
A poet, artist and musician
Philosopher and friend
As a Father-firm, loving and strong.
As a husband-faithful and loyal
A kaleidoscope of qualities, talents and enigmas.
A man of many facets
showing some talents to one, many to others.
Who was he? Look around.
The sky, grass, plants, birds
all knew him
Better to say who is he?
He rides with the wind,
Reflects the sun's rays and
exists in the dew itself.
He will never die as long as nature is.
He is nature in its purest form.
HE IS LIFE!

After thought-
He would have LOVED spiritual forums :)

Wow! That is so moving, GreenGazer. Your grandfather left a glorious emotional legacy and this blows me away "He will never die as long as nature is. He is nature in its purest form."
It is my evolving opinion that all we love (and do not love) is a journey we craft in matter as forms to understand the pure nature of the love behind all nature. And that the best thing we can do is to live the love that we feel- for in that way, we shine as the light rather than cast shadows. Your Grandfather must have been a great light to have inspired such tributes. Thanks so much for sharing this. It really added to the poem to understand where it came from.

A beautiful tribute to your grandfather! This verse is eloquent, with vivid word imagery.

I agree. That poem is framed in my study. Thank you everyone for your kind words. He truly was a magnificent man.
