Fact:The rise and fall of the tides on Earth is caused by the Moon.

We got to 36 degrees and had white grass and frosted roof tops. It was even more so down in the valley. How it frosts when above 32 is beyond my factual knowledge.

This happens if there is clear sky: temperature of the night sky is much lower than the air temperature. If the sky is clear, objects on the ground lose heat by radiation to the sky, and this can create significant temperature difference between the object and air that surrounds it. The effect is stronger if there is no significant wind.
And that is how frost forms when the temp is above freezing.
