Do Unto Others as You would Have Them Do Unto You

Someone mentioned this this saying online to me this morning. They called it the 'Golden Rule'. Like most of us I've heard it said 100s or thousands of times in the passing. But this morning it struck me like a tonne of bricks. I thought wowwww !!!!

What grabbed me most about it was the Wisdom which I've never sensed before. The wisdom that you will know yourself as love and worthy of love and will know the other as the same. Sorry that doesn't really explain it very well but you must first have self self knowledge and that self knowledge will be that at your deepest centre of your being you are love and nothing less and nothing more and when we look at the aphorism in such light we can see that because we have an awareness and experience of self love we can not fail but to love the other person.

It's a perfect teaching because it invites you and asks the question do you really know or love yourself ? Hey guys I'm not explaining what i experienced very well ..help me out ? anyone any views on it ?

Made perfect sense to me.

When your in Love with Love you can't help but Love, of course in a innocent divine sort of way.

Keep Love as your compass.

Hi Joe,

What I got once like a light bulb going off...was I forgive myself...
I am understanding to myself.

I will do something not so great,...I call them 'cringe moments'.
Instead of slitting my throat, beating myself up for days...I say to myself..."Well, it's ok, they just do this all the time
and you got tired of it and rolled your eyes, and you hate doing that....so drop it, be more patient next time."

If I can love myself this way then...OH! This is how I can love my neighbor.... Ta da!
Understand why they 'could' have changed their oil in front of my house and stained the street...
(that never happened)...and forgive them. Drop it, move on.
Next time you see them smile like usual. Maybe ask them ...Next time, Hows about doing that at your place?

Compassion, forgiveness, understanding, making excuses for myself, move on....do the same with my neighbor.
I want to be understood and forgiven ...so do the same to them.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.

Can we instead consider shifting the coordinate of our consciousness to:

Do unto others as a conduit of the Divine Love energy outpouring from our being mindless of the actions of the other, unconditionally & nonjudgingly accepting the vibrational energy of each consciousness on a where is as is basis as it may be at this moment during its own spiritual journey.

To me it encapsulates one of the most important messages in the teachings and examples in the life of Jesus. The general sentiment of the old testament is that those who transgress us should be punished in accordance with the transgression. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Do unto others as they have done onto you.

Jesus turned that upside down with the Golden rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. A small change in wording that changes everything.

Vengeance is a state of mind filled with fear and hate. Forgiveness is a state of mind filled with compassion and love. It is hard to feel love, for oneself or anyone else, when one is filled with a desire for vengeance.

BTW, note here the difference between the account of Jesus’s words in Matthew 5:38-48 and the quote from Romans 12:17-19. Very different, perhaps opposing messages. To me this says so much about what I see as the difference between a follower of Jesus, and what eventually commonly came to be known as a Christian. https://biblereasons.com/eye-for-an-eye/

"Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."
Martin Luther King Jr.

Which begs the question ..

“How deep is your love?”

Self love becomes the compass to an ever changing deepening into clarity of being/becoming divine love. The steps through our human journey of love leading us to what you see as a natural outpouring, effortless and without cause or reason. One leads themselves as this and the receiving becomes what you are..giving and receiving have no seperation from within..

Thank you for a Bee Gees song that is now on continual replay in my brain:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XpqqjU7u5Yc

As for the subject matter.

For the more "unenlightened" among us, we each have certain expectations of the way in which we would like to or prefer to be treated by others to make us feel happy.

In that list there, patience, kindness, respect, acknowledgment, reassurance etc plays a huge part to foster such understanding in any form of effective communication.

For the most part, what we receive through others, is basically our own behaviour and attitudes mirrored back to us, so that to receive certain dispensations, we must first be the provider of them and not wait until others show it, to feel justified in displaying these qualities ourselves.

This is how I interpret the whole meaning behind that adage.

Love the bee gees and this song. Thankyou.
Your words ring true like the cool soft breeze on a “hot summers night” (yet another song)..

(And yes for those of us seeking to build a more authentic true self, modelling brings about profound (yet very natural)kindred interconnectedness, where everyone is right now in their life and process)

‘I love you Just the way you are’-?

IDK, it's a bit long and not as catchy, you may want to test that one with a focus group first. Marketing research shows that information is better absorbed in the form of small sound bytes. Maybe if you put that to music and made it into a cute little jingle. Could you put it to a reggae beat or work it into rap song? It's just these youngsters these days, and all the social media and screen time, you have to meet them where the are don't ya know.
