Hi :)

Great! I always take my Carnelian and my Aragonite (Star Cluster & Blue) with me.

Yesterday I didn't spend as much time with my crystals, as it was a bit busy and I was full of cold (kinda make me a lil grumpy). Quite funny as I'd sit and relax, then get pulled by the dog this way and that, for the odd discarded piece of bread crust etc ~ sniff, sniffle. Will take a tent peg next time!

What kind of a SnowMonkey are you--grumpy in the cold!

Whenever I think of SnowMonkeys I think of a documentary about them in Nagano, Japan hot springs. Immediately I think about the "outcast" ones that don't get in the hot springs because they were born to the wrong family.

I know this is the wrong association, but I noticed my daughter immediately remembered that --and she's not really a Nat Geo type of person.

But your choice of scenery for you (and your dog) to explore--absolutely gorgeous.

I always walk the same trail. I even have people around here ask me--why do you always walk the same trails? IDK. Creature of habit? Want to know the distance?

I have decided to do my favorite summit 30 days in a row though. I'm on day 29 today. Then, maybe, I'll go for 100! After the first 8-9 days it's just a matter of putting in the time.

I haven't taken my carnelian with me, although it is on the nightstand always. I guess I could tuck it in the phone arm band.

For the first time, I noticed the "eyes" in your carnelian. I hadn't noticed it before. Mine have them too.

Love the travelog! Keep 'em coming, SnowMonkey!

Isle - Lora

Hi :)

Oh no! I was wrapped up and very warm. The plan was to visit a stone circle, not catch a cold. So it seemed a better idea, to have a little wander over to a fort instead. The dog, is very much her own puddle splashing free spirit :)

Good for you! How far do you walk and do you use trekking poles?

I find that it's nice to take a few stones with me on the bike, as it's a good reminder to stop and appreciate everything along the way.

Many blessings to you! :)

SnowMonkey--

Dogs and walks/rides are perfect together. My trail is 5 miles (8K). It would be 10K if I didn't take the shortcut! No, I don't use trekking poles.

I did the 30th day. Sitting at a bench at the top and noticing the one sandal and block of wood that had been there for weeks--I couldn't resist.

I set them under the bench with a leg-sized stick above the block of wood and wrote in sticks "Don't make fun of Pegleg!" :) What a strange human being I am--60 going on 12.

So why did you pick the snow monkey name? Were you stranded?

Lora

That carnelian is such a cute little stone. :) And it's lucky to be visiting so many lovely places. There are PEOPLE who'd gladly take vacation days from their job to go trekking in all these amazing locations, and here this stone gets to do it as a matter of course. Lucky carnelian! :)

Hi :)

lol Lora! What I find strange more, is that eighteen year olds have to be taught what it feels like to be a child. Why are those who arguably look after the most precious thing in this life, paid the minimum wage, yet responsible for a child's personal development? But then sometimes it's best just to have a little wander, sit atop a hill with a Carnelian... just be here in the now :)

They do say that Carnelian is a stone of protection, for the journey to the afterlife. It makes sense to get used to being in the here and now, rather than a last minute panic

If you want, you can read more about the name here. I picked the name on my cousins birthday, as she was off to see Wicked the musical. I chose SnowMonkey instead of Chistery (familiar), then added Stranded; as Killyjoy (Chef's dog) discovered Chistery on an island. So StrandedSnowMonkey, saved by magic ~ as Elphie (Wicked Witch) raced across the lake, the water of which turned to ice under her feet, to prise him from Killyjoy's jaws! :O

I suppose that I could consider it more of a thank you, to the (self-confessed) crazy cat woman who recommended the book to me :)

It's all about the journey! :)

Hi :)

When I start traveling further, I'll begin to write more about the journey. It's just nice to share the pictures.

Hi :)

I made a last minute dash to Nyland Hill yesterday. The farmer was herding some cows out of the farm... so I carried on round the hill, past the chickens in the road, to carry the bike up the steep slope. I took some pictures, before sitting down with my crystals and refueling. A couple who run a local tea room turned up, so it was nice to chat and enjoy the view with them. I now know somewhere to stop on the way to Glastonbury. Whilst we were looking over towards Wells and Glastonbury, I noticed a bird of prey behind us. It was just above out heads, gently gliding on the wind. The top of the hill is quite small and the bird was so close! It was amazing. I stayed for a while longer by myself, before heading back past the chickens and the jack russells patrolling the farm sheds. The temperature started dropping on the way back along the Strawberry Line, through the long dark tunnel with only cat eyes to guide you. Perhaps I should have left a little earlier... but at least I took some lights. The reward was taking a different route back home, spotting an little owl in the dusk. It waited silently for a little while, before plunging into the field below :)
