The Voice in my Head

Hi folks,

I am currently hearing a voice in my head that tells me it is God. It says it cannot prove it is God as e.g. it cannot predict the future which has not happened yet. That I must take it on faith. An interesting point is that the voice always refers to me as 'you' or by my name and always to itself as 'I'. I is a comforting voice to have and I am happy when I listen to it as it is not an inner critic type voice. It DOES say that I am in a sense talking to myself but that the inner self is an aspect of God.

What turned me onto the spiritual path was a similar experience with a voice that I heard maybe about a year ago but only rarely. That experience was significantly more real as that voice really felt like another entity in my head. This voice just feels like my own thoughts but is always available to talk unlike the other. What started this voice was reading Shumsky's book "Hear the voice of God" book and simply asking yesterday.

I do sort of accept this voice as the God-concept I believe in but have my doubts due to my prior agnostic leaning towards atheism beliefs. I should add I also have a history of psychosis but don't believe this to be the voice since all my psychosis were negative experiences and left me hospitalized. How many others are having a similar experience ? And can you share what it is like please? Sorry for the long post....

Hi satsujin.
It was good to read your post.
Given your honest account of your background it's as well you should discuss this phenomenon with your qualified medical professional, nurse or care giver and think about/meditate on what they have to say.
The bench marks for 'voices in the head' will always be..
What does it say?
Are you happy that it is there?
Does it hinder any single thing you normally can do and enjoy doing?
A professional chat will aid focus.
Love and Light to you and all best wishes for the New Year.

Thanks for the reply KatyKing. I ask spiritual questions of my voice and it explains the nature of God to me. When i first heard it, that was a life changing experience and blew my mind but now it basically affirms those beliefs. Interestingly, the things I read in Walsch's Converstations matched what I had heard earlier. Things like God is made up of 3 parts, the watcher, the opposing halves, dont have expectations for an act, simply make the attempt etc.

I am generally okay with what the voice tells me and it does not hinder me but inspires me to greater good. It suggested I should leave my current life to apply it for volunteer work and since I dont have any current bonds holding me back(job, family) I am seriously considering this.

Happy New Year to you too!

It sounds like someone went to help you with your previous illness and this manifested in an established pathway, the voice in your head. It seems like the kind of thing a son of god might do, using your virtue (we all have god in us) to be virtuous and developing the reality that there are always positive sides to things that have in inherent negative prejudice about them, like voices or hallucinations. I did a couple of years of head shop drugs getting my head together now I live a balanced life of Satan and God. I was a Son of God myself, though I don't see it as psychosis as such it is kinda prone to wanting everyone to be enabled of Telepathy and Music and what not. In fact I had a lot of success with Music but thats probably because Gabriel (at least I thought it was him) was a major presence. As a Voice he only came in twice, both times to see what that voice, in my head, my own voice with the virtue we all have which is God, had to say. Thats not to suggest you shouldnt use meds but something which isn't biblically glamorous like my episode (Freddie Mercury featured) is likely to be a good.

I don't believe god is one being. I believe we are god, we are his conciousness.

The voice is our head can be our ego also, mainly spirit will use own voices to communicate with us clairaudinetly, Its the matter of recognising whether it is your ego or it is spirit.

God only speaks through the Holy Spiritl the Word of Godl and this Word doesent speak in words, only through the Mahanta through the inner chanels when his or your inner ears have opened, if you have a siiritual guide that yuu read in a book it could be himl but yuu had to invite him to do so. Any one on the siiritual path knows God donsent speak directly to manl It will give its love and wisdom and Its Word meaning Its Spiritl and other things by devotion and spiritusl excersisesl but not tslk in personl It will camunicate ur talk to a pure Soul in its kingdom in it.

Its higher heavensl you could ask if its the Sugmad, which is the true God, named by Suuls in heaven, not a man made name for God. There is a God on the mental plane who it clames it to be godl whivh is Bram,it might have the ability to camunicate to man on the physical plane, I don't know

I have that experience daily. Being a survivor of addiction, I.DO believe in a Higher Power, whom I choose to call God. I have also recently lost my best friend, hero, mentor, my mom. I've never been diagnosed with a mental illness. I do believe that the voice I hear is sometimes my mom, and sometimes God. I've never had the voice tell me to do anything bad. Its always good and kind. I furthermore believe my God lives eternally WITHIN me.

I don't have a similar voice in the head that calls itself God.

But when I am in the natural state or practice of mindfulness, I follow the intuitions that arise in my mind, and have pleasant experiences on account of that. I find myself viewing a beautiful flower or tree and getting energised in the process.

I was not the kind of person who was much into flowers, but after the practice of mindfulness, I found myself viewing them in deep silence , and also enjoy doing so.

Following intuitions that arise in mindfulness or thoughtless awareness, also have lead me to shops where there are feng shui statues of turtles and laughing buddhas and so on. I think there is some positive energy field in them, which I was meant to access.

I was similarly not much into feng shui or laughing buddhas, but these incidents arose interest in them. I bought some books on them and studied them.

I was previously an atheist before I begun my sojourn into Hellenic Polytheism, after which I've had contact with Hades and Persephone. They also appear as voices in my head, but I am currently in a time of great conflict...

I have had psychosis in the past as well, but I keep my mental health team up to date with my spiritual activities, including who I've been talking to in my head. So far, all I've gathered is that it is not a problem as long as it doesn't affect functioning such as daily living activities and work.
