REAL Hematite
Just a little something that's been bugging me and that I think people should know.
I've noticed that many shopkeepers who sell crystals and the like do NOT have any REAL Hematite. It's ridiculious.
My grandmother, who has mined and collected crystals all her life, gave me a natural Hematite stone (its about 50 years old now since it was dug up) and at least 50% of the crystal sellers I've shown it to do not recognize it.
Apparently Magnetic Hematite (otherwise known as Magnetite) which is artificially made, is natural Hematite. Wow, who would have known. *Rolls eyes*
A tip, if you want to know whether your Hematite is real, get some sandpaper and rub the surface of it you are least likely to see, it should produce a rust red surface beneath or red powder.
The name Hematite is the Greek word for "Blood-Like" and was given to the stone because of its rust red dust.
And now my rant has ended. No more fake Hematite.

Thanks for the insight Sangress, there is another scam that has been going on for a few years with smokey quartz. Some shops have been selling irradiated quartz for smokey. You can only really tell by the colour - it is more of a brownish colour than black/brown.

I never knew that about hematite. Yeah the smokey cooked quartz irritates me they also do that with Amethyst too so beware.

Also, when you do sense real Hematite it should have a vibe range 4 times the size of the stone itself all the way around it, unlike magnetite which has a vibe range of maybe an inch at most.
The "pull" of the real stuff is more direct and strong as well, it'll pull energy through solid objects five stories up no problem, whereas magnetite wont go more than 4 feet or so and even then it weakens as it goes.
So, generally, the real stuff is just better and worth the effort of finding.
The difference in effect is astounding, especially for clearing out crystals and making crystal grids that actually hold their form for decades.
Plus those negative "weighing down" and "dragging the life out of me" and "intense pain arching through limbs" effect never happens with real Hematite either, it's energy is recyclable too so you wont loose everything you've got stored in your body...assuming that your not an energetic vampire or don't have an energy deficiency of course...

So is there a website where we can find "real" hematite, also does real hematite look like the hematite we find in stores that aren't real?

This really annoys me, selling something that is not the real mccoy, surely they should put a note or something saying FAKE :) doubt if they would go that far ;) Thanks for the info Sangress.

Well I have a piece that is a necklace and I love it b/c it's clear quartz and inside are amethyst ghosts and specks of hematite so I know for a fact that hematite specks are real LOL.
I've always wondered about hematite as I've always felt it was supposed to be a much stronger stone than what I usually feel when I have my hematite with me.
Thanks for the info once again.
