Very interesting. The photograph certainly looks like the supposed portrait of DK. Whether it is actually DK, who knows. It is worth reading the entire article to put the photograph into context.
Peace

Looking at the photo and the painting... to me they don't look alike. On closer inspection it might be possible the photo was used as reference. Being a painter and having made portraits myself, I know that what you create doesn't always really match the photo you're working from.
The painter went for the same nose, the left ear (his right one) is the same.
Apart from that, they could be entirely different people with similar monk garments and shaven heads.
Also... Djwal Khul had more than one incarnation. It is possible he looked like this when in Tibet.
He was also Caspar, one of the 3 Magi that went to greet baby Jesus, and allegedly he was the youngest, in his 20s. I do take it he looked different then as here we see an old man.
I think we see the Ascended Masters and AAs in a way that works for us.
To me he doesn't look like this painting.
Take Quan Yin. The usual depiction of her doesn't work for me at all. I see her somewhat different, in a way that does resonate with me.

I don't quite follow this. According to the article, the painting was done in the 1930s whereas the photograph has only recently come to light. There is no indication that the person who did the painting ever saw the photograph.
And neither the person in the painting nor the person in the photo has a shaven head. The person in the photo seems to have hair, albeit very short.
To me, there is a definite resemblance.
Peace

Interesting to read your 2 opposite opinion. Personally i tend to agree with you both. On a purely physical level, for me the 2 pictures look alike. But when i try to feel the emotional, the psychological expression, the 2 pictures seems differents. The man on the painting seems very serious, deep, mystical, wise; while the man on the photo looks more cheerful.

Personally, I generally do not pay much attention to the physical form since I have personally seen yogis change their outward form by connecting to the projecting faculty within. Some can literally assume any form that they choose. This is alluded to in Judaism in the folklore stories about the appearances of the prophet Elijah.
This discussion, however, is interesting.
It is also interesting in a related way that Muslims do not have pictures of Mohammed in any of the mosques that I have visited. Even in the classic movie, "The Message", neither the image nor the voice of the prophet is ever seen or heard throughout the entire movie despite Muhammed being the principal character. (Believe it or not, it is actually done quite effectively.)
Contrast that with the many movies about Lord Jesus and listen to varying comments by people saying that they didn't believe that Jesus looked like that or spoke like that. Such things as the portrayal of outward images can easily distract from the message.
Having said that, I understand the value of images for most people.

That's why you won't see that in Muslim religion. They have elaborate tiles, no images. It does make sense.
In a way having an image in your head that was presented by someone else can really hinder your own experience of said person/being.
That's why I find some for instance AA oracle cards really annoying as mostly the way an AA or Ascended Master is depicted is not anything like how I see him/her.
And in a way I'm like you, I also don't always need or 'see' a clear image. Often the energy is enough, or a vague presentation in my mind's eye.

My son has had his hair that short for a while. He shaved it. How else do you get it that short if not by shaving?
The photo may have be discovered and shown to the masses later on, but it's not to say the painter hadn't seen it. Looking at certain details that are the same I seriously doubt you could get that without the photograph.
And again, DK has had many incarnations long long time ago. I doubt he'd have looked the same in all of 'em.

I love the way you express yourself and, once again, I agree with you completely.
