LightFilledHeart-that was actually a quote from my post, anyways, i have dabbled in a bit of it, there is also the kabbala system, having to do with numbers=letters etc. etc.

Hi Deusdrum! Yes, Kabbala is an ancient reference as well.

For me personally speaking, i have a rough idea what a number means to me, from the sense i get from it energy wise, dependent on the given situation. I find this much more useful to me then being fed information telling what this or that number "means" as it tends to bias my beliefs.

I understand what you're saying. Here's what I have found. The basic energy of a given number seems to hold true, in spite of the many different ways an individual will put their own personal spin on their USE of that energy So I'm kind of
in between the rigid position you reference not working for you and the one you use with success

There may well be a universal system of sorts, but i have actually had from personal experience been negatively influenced by others interpretations of numbers

How and why would that be?? I never take in anything anyone tells me... reader, counselor, channeler, avatar, what-have-you!... without first checking inside to see if it resonates with me. If it does, then fine. If not, I simply release it and move on. That is what I've always told my clients, too. Don't accept it just because I say so, especially if you feel strongly differently! There are many different modalities of Numerology and a wide variance in the level and expertise of those setting themselves up as practitioners. Like anything else in the metaphysical arena, it's sort of a "buyer beware" market.

and, as i see certain numbers in a syncronistic sense fairly frequently, it has i feel been much more of a hindrance (very much so in one case) than a help to 'know' what a number means.

Really? How interesting! How so? Can you give me an example?

But that is just my personal opinion based on experience. Not to take anything away from numerology or any form of it that one may choose to work with.

Oh no worries! We are having a discussion is all. I appreciate hearing the thoughts and views of others, even when I hold a totally different opinion. I love exchanging thoughts and ideas in a respectful setting that honors everyone's right to his or her own truth

I'd liken to a 'dream dictionary' where so much of the experience of dreaming is personal and subjective, it would, IMO be more beneficial to keep a dream journal, and over time, interpret your own dreams according to what meanings they reveal themselves to have to you.

Interesting that you would mention that! I am a dream consultant as well! I authored a dream book some years ago, and one of the chapters was on how to put together you own personalized dream dictionary. It's a technique that came to me out of the blue in meditation one day, and I put it to use for myself and found it to have amazing results. I then began recommending the technique to my clients, and they all had excellent results as well In the Empowered Dreaming workshops I conduct that is one of the things we discuss and I show the students how to do that in a brief little sample exercise.

Love numbers though either way. I do think that maybe exposing oneself to other interpretations may be helpful, or interesting, but to take it with a grain of salt and go by our intuitive/instinctual impressions above all else.

On that we are in complete accord. I find the basic truths and underlying energetic frequency of each of the nine single digit numbers and both of the two double digit master numbers to be accurate, but as I said earlier, how they are used by an individual is open to a grand scheme of interpretation.

And of course i am not well versed in any particular system, though more so in the tarot/kabalah than anything, but not much even there, so i am no expert on anything.

What defines and "expert" anyway? Your thoughts and ideas are very bit as valid and worthwhile as anyone else's! Matthew always told me that although I practiced Numerology in a slightly different way than he, my way worked for me and helped clients, and that that was all that mattered

P.E.A.C.E. ~

Peace to you as well, and thank you for the interesting commentary! May your day be showered with blessings....

LightFilledHeart -

Of course, it may be well and fine to say, 'buyer beware'. but to an impressionable young man reading for example,(as in my case) reading an author who may heavily influence him because he sort of sees the author as a great and wise person already, a suggestion can put something into your head pretty strong (and did), and from there, my own fearful projections did the rest.

Now, of course, i take responsibility for reacting the way i had, the number itself i let become a sort of boogeyman. (There are, btw, reading other author numerologists who's book say basically the exact oppposite thing about certain numbers.) If something works, hey, im all for it. I just do not agree with some of numerologies assessments, so all im saying is why bother having to get someone to tell you what something is, when you can discover it's meaning for yourself? Especially seeing as how you may have to unlearn/deprogram what you have 'learned' if it turns out to be false?

Maybe it was part of my path to go experience this, so it may have served it's purpose and continues to do so. However, i still think that numerology is different than math, and everyone will see and react, and hold meanings of one number to another very differently.

Let me, for example, ask you what the number 444 a"means"? In your opinion, as a numerologist.

I see 11:11 but also other interesting combos. All numbers are symbolic of life's flow, imo, but I also grew up in a card playing family, so 1111 is 4 aces, LOL. My grandma and I used to play rummy a lot.

~See there? My post count is now 1,331~cool!

I am being somewhat ridiculous i know, of course it is all good to learn from the wisdom of the past, and build upon what others have come to know before us. Just i find myself, an incongruency sometimes, the kabalists have their system, the chinese have one, etc. etc. Id just like to make the point that it would be good to cross reference and compare what this or that source has to say about any particular number, and always remain objective/skeptical/scientific to a certain extent, when dealing with the nature of numbers.

I think this 11.11 thing is ingrained into our psyche and anything that we see, where normally we wouldn't take any notice of, is more highlighted, thats all it is.

Those who have experienced the 11.11 phenomenon or even just synchronicity, in it's extent, know that this phenomenon is far beyond chance! I think Carl Jung was a psychiatrist who was 'converted' so to speak after his experience with synchronicity.

From what I know it is the effect, or manifestation of causes and interactions of the psychic / higher realms. The 11.11 seems to be used in helping people awaken and better understanding the nature of the matrix.

The amount of synchronicities I have experienced though, it is beyond me what half of them mean.
