Great, enlightening night!

Just wanted to share a couple things that happened at dance class tonight. I teach a 7-12 year old lyrical/contemporary class (it's a story telling type of dance about emotion) and I gave them a general story idea to improv (make up their own movement and moves) of you're a magical creature that can live forever, but in that remember that you're going to eventually be alone, your friends and family and loved ones aren't the same as you so you have to wait for them, to see them again. We did it to A thousand years by Christina Perri and let me tell you, if you want to see purity, spiritual expression and I dunno it was like watching what we talk about here but in little souls. Innocence, before all the pain and heartbreak of life I suppose. It was amazing.

Then later I have a group of 4 girls who compete with the dance we're working on and I'm doing it to Katy Perry's Wide Awake. It's about my awakening, what I've gone through in a way the past few years or really always. It's about being strong and only needing you and your love, no knights in shining armor needed. (I wish someone had told me that at some point growing up.) These girls are 12-18 years old but they all take something from it and get it. One of their moms grew up with a mom who also taught dance and she's been a dance teacher and dancer so she's a very big critic and she came and watched the rough version of it tonight after we finished the whole piece and she had tears in her eyes and said that never happens! I got chills during it too and it makes me want to go out and do it with them, which hardly ever happens. This piece is so close to my heart and soul. I'm so excited about it and it's so awesome to see, like a dream come to life.

This night was great for my soul!
