Definitely not. Even without the religious aspect, Christmas is a magical time for many families and children. The focus on goodwill and peace is really important too. I can't see any good coming from banning it.

Christmas should not be Abolished at all.
Life is hard enough as it is for many of us christmas just brakes the Boredom
and offers some joy.
To see the lights shining through the windows and the trees decorated it brings joy,it can be an Expensive time if you have family.

It would look even better if we had snow,

Namaste

And I was a kid it was it the end of November the adverts and the Christmas toys and the Christmas cards but five men 90s it was found on your throat September then now any minute now you love the east eggs on the shelf and I put you off as well
With Christmas now is to commercialized but at the wrong time like September even though August as toe soon

I don't think Christmas should be abolished. People who like it should be free to celebrate It in whatever way they choose.

But personally I am not too keen on Christmas. It is an orgy of commercialism that has no spiritual meaning for me at all.

Ultimately it is a pagan festival and has nothing to do with Christ. There is no evidence to indicate that Jesus was born on December 25th.

For those who enjoy Christmas that is great. But I prefer to opt out of it and to celebrate my Christ consciousness every day of the year.

In my post (above yours) I was suggesting there is scope for both this and having an authentic Christmas day i.e. separately.

ok you actually made me think about this lol... personally i think, christ probably wouldn't think his own presence meaningful, it is what he brings to us I think that is meaningful to him.

mass consumerism IS annoying to me too... but on the other hand I have a feeling there was a time when many people were not given their due in terms of money they had actually earned, and so I think letting the commercial people run amuk helps fill a void that was there in their own beingness. Much as I don't like that way of life I still have respect for those who were wronged even if that was in a past so distant we don't remember it and to people who are now somewhat maligned for their values.

And everyone else gets something out of it too... what I see is that at least some of the stuff that is being made is being made specifically because the powers that be beyond the powers that be came to understand that people like it enough that maybe they'll be interested to wake up for a little bit here and there and spend a little time in their now.... So even though such things were obtained through mass consumerism they hold a very good purpose. At least in my own mind...

coming back to your observation about holidays yeah it wouldn't hurt to have another one people need as much as they can get But I neither think it overly bad to have a commercialized holiday nor think it overly good to have a holiday about the meaning of 'christ'.... since like I say I feel that both aims are being achieved the way it is anyway....

Doing away with Christmas 'might' be the beginning of getting rid of 'religions'.

Now, if a person does not want to partake in Christmas and/or Christianity.... that is a personal choice.

And the majority can be totally wrong. I'm not a fan of referenda..

Even if Christmas were to be abolished, it takes little effort for people to simply spend time together, have a decorated tree, or go to church, or celebrate it as Yule etc. So what is it again I'd be voting for or against? What does abolition entail? And how does a referendum makes sense?
