Who is your favorite bible hero or heroine outside of Jesus?

Who is your favourite bible hero or heroine besides Jesus? Why is he or she a favourite?
I will begin. Mine is Jacob. I like him because like me, he is a sinner, a deceiver, a liar and there is hardly anything good about him besides the fact that he hungers for God's blessings to be in his life. Yet, at the end of his life, he died in worship of God.
He started up bad, and tried to get God's blessings, but ended up just worshipping God, even in his death. I want to be someone like that.
I can never be a Abraham because I am weak in my faith, or a David because I am too cowardly to trust God to slay a Goliath or a Moses or a Elijah or a Paul.
But I am definitely a Jacob, in that I seek after God's blessings, despite being a sinner and hopefully, at the end of my life, died in worship of God like him. So he is my hero even though I am a gal.
What about yours?

Who are your favorite Christian heroes/heroines outside of the bible?

Who are your favourite recent heroes/heroines outside of the bible, particularly born in recent times and why?
I will begin again. Mine is Samuel Morris and DL Moody.
Samuel Morris is an African man who prays and even though he does not live long, he is a model for me in the area of childlike prayers.
DL Moody reaches the lost for God with a passion and he is not very educated.
I also like Billy Graham, Smith Wigglesworth, Catherine Booth.
Too often, we honor the saints of the bibles without recognizing that there are modern heroes/heroines in our midst too. Let's talk about them here!

Me too - Smith Wigglesworth! Katherine Kuhlman, etc--Myles Munroe, RIP, Meister Eckhart - then the Saints...esp the mystics.
Oh and ALL the New Thought authors and teachers! They are remarkable;
the list is too long to write.
But I could if asked.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.

It was surprising to see mention of Katherine Kuhlman…….we had a family connection to her coming from the same neighborhood…..

Who are your favorite Christian heroes/heroines outside of the bible?

Mary of Jesus of Ágreda

She bilocated from Spain to modern day New Mexico/Arizona during the 1600's. The Church investigated her bilocations and found that toward the end of her journeys, she was able to talk to the Native Americans and give them gifts.

She is also referred to at times to being an incarnation of Mother Mary.

"Who is your favorite bible hero or heroine outside of Jesus?"

This is one little known animal hero in the bible:

Balaam’s Donkey who saved Balaam. The Donkey carrying Balaam was able to see the angel of the Lord on the road. The angel of the Lord said to Balaam, Numbers 22:33 "The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If it had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now,"

Gee, I see now I misread the first post...they had to be IN the Bible.
I bet it was before I had my coffee...I apologize!
Aw, the donkey...

DAVID! All I had to do was read Psalm 139.
Enoch, another one God loved SO MUCH!
Mary Magdalene...gee, there are so many!

Elisha - in Kings having NO fear cuz he saw an army of angels and horses to help him ...then somehow his
scared servant's eyes were opened to also be able to see them.
It's quite a story!

ABRAHAM talking God out of destroying a town
The FATHER of the prodigal son.
But yes, Jacob seeing God face to face Gen 30..and he called the place Peniel...like pineal.

The starter of the topic first posted hero's in the bible (not including Jesus) then since they got no replies they changed it to "Who are your favorite recent heroes/heroines outside of the bible, particularly born in recent times and why?"

Hero's in the bible is not so easy as many characters in the bible did bad things before they did good things. Also now days everyone is so aware of the bad things some in various religious groups have done. Hero's outside the bible also not easy because so many groups are against each other now days. So many groups exist now days fighting other groups. Also now with the internet and news, everyone is aware of the bad apples or bad actions in the various groups.

I think a hero would have to be somebody who is for everyone that exists. That helps all. Loves all. But then not only is the world today very violent and a lot of crime happens, so many groups all hate each other. "Hero's" typically were people who saved your group (the good guys) from the "bad guys." Now days if two groups are fighting each other in various ways, is anyone really good? Who are the "bad guys?" It's like the Hatfield–McCoy feud. So much hate between the two families. Who was right or good? All violence and hate is wrong.

We are all the same, every human on earth. But then we struggle against each other for various things, beliefs, money, land, love, food, a way to make a living. It's hard. Then humans divide themselves against others using race, sex, beliefs, religion and on and on. A lot of humans use power and violence to get what they want and harm others being this way.

The only modern hero's I could think of would be nurses and doctors, the ones who truly love and care for all regardless of what groups they belong to. Teachers too. All in the helping professions. Of course there can be "bad eggs" in these groups too but the good ones who truly love and care for all are angels to me. Saints on earth. Seems like a hero now days would be someone who loves all and and does not divide people using belief or religion.

One "hero" could be Joseph. Joseph married and loved a pregnant woman and cared for a baby that was not his own. That was probably a big thing in those days. I was watching some reality dating show and the guy dumped one woman because she already had a child from a different man who was still in her life co-parenting. But then in Joseph's case the other man was God so no other man or Father in her life or Jesus's life. Many men on tv dating shows drop the women who already have children.

According to Mark, our first written Gospel, Jesus had four brothers: James, Joses, Judas, and Simon. He also had at least two sisters, although they are unnamed. So I guess Joseph was the father of many of his own with Mary.

Oh I just saw Joseph is a Saint. Joseph is venerated as Saint Joseph in the Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodox Church, Anglicanism and Lutheranism. In Catholic traditions, Joseph is regarded as the patron saint of workers and is associated with various feast days.

Joseph did protect Jesus like when he moved his whole family to Egypt to save them from Herod, the ruler of Judea.
