It was in the tropics I first met nymphs and fairy's - into he flowers in my yard actually, then again later in a park by the ocean. If that helps. Haven't met any water denizens yet but certainly believe they exist.

being "not afraid" is splendid.
for the "average" person, i'd suggest that they not rely on "hoping",
but on a secure understanding that they have nothing to fear.
i suppose that "hoping" an encountered being will sense trustworthiness
in you is also somewhat different than emanating trust.
so, again, grounding in peacefulness before 'exploring' is probably a good idea.
