Biblical/Religious Vanishing?

Im not sure if this is the right place to post this Are there any prophecies about beings that can make items or people disappear? From temporarily to the disappearing of the pure ones into heaven before judgement. also i heard something about something with "many heads but none.." somewhere a while back, any insights on what it means or how its related?

The Bible does tell of an event called the rapture in which all Christians, living and dead, will be removed from the earth.

Quote:
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 ESV)
Here is a more detailed explanation of what will happen.

Here are two good sites that can help you learn more about what the Bible says will happen in the future.

I don't recall ever reading the phrase "many heads but none" in the Bible but it could simply be something that I have overlooked.

In the Book of Mormon, in times of great wickedness, God would make items slippery so they would be lost and none would be able to find. (Helaman 13:31)
a promise the Book of Mormon says over and over is, "Inasmuch as you shall keep the commandments, ye shall be blessed. Inasmuch as you shall not keep the commandments, ye shall be cut off."
For the "rapture" I would look at Matthew 24 (especially 20-42)

Rev., chapter 13, speaks of the "seven" headed beast. but it's NOT a literal beast, it represents satan governmental system. Rev. 16:10,also speaks of the "wild beast" peace

I wouldn't be so quick to try and fit God into a box like that jojo50. After all, the revelation also talks about two witnesses who will be like God's mouthpiece, as they will cause droughts and other plagues on the Earth. So it seems like they'll be given pretty super powers. I'm not saying he WILL give people power to make things disappear, but we can't say for sure that he won't.

This isn't talking about the rapture but about Christ's return to earth to rule it after the tribulation. Here is an explanation of the difference between these events.

I have heard a lot of arguments over whether or not Christians will have to go through the tribulation. For me, I believe that we DO have to go through tribulation because it just makes sense that God wants to test our faith in Him. Jesus talked a lot about having to pick up our cross and follow him, being prepared to die for Him etc. So if we don't have to go through this testing period (that I think Jesus spent a lot of his life preparing us for), then that's cool, I'll be quite happy. But what about those who are strong believers that they will be whisked away before the tribulation...I think they'll be quite shaken and upset with God. It's our unwillingness to question what we believe that causes this subject to become so touchy. So, because there is so much debate over the subject, I think it's best that we prepare for the worst.

Lets look in the book of revelation which describes the end times. There is a fair bit in there about events that will happen. I just picked one of the many prophecies of John so you can get the idea. Revelation talks of sending heavenly beings to earth to take things away and accomplish the will of God in his chosen order at his chosen time.

Revelation ch 5

6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits[a] of God sent out into all the earth. 7 He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. 8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.

We will have to go through tribulations.

Quote:
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
(John 16:33 ESV)
But there is a seven year period coming which will be time of tribulation unlike any that has ever been before. We will be taken out of the world before then.
