Funeral day
I Hope i am posting in the right sub forum....I thought mediums would know the answer to this.
why do they celebrate memorial day/funeral(i don't know the exact english word for this) after ones death generally on the 12 or 13 day after death in most of the cultures/religions?
I would be glad to hear from you.

hi sups,
I am wondering if you mean having an actual funeral service for the person, 12 to 13 days after their death ? I haven't really heard of this time limit.
This could be for a number of reasons, notification of relatives, planning the funeral if it isn't already pre- planned, perhaps there has to be an autopsy for cause of death in questionable circumstances ( not sure how long that takes ). It could also take longer than the 12 to 13 days, depending on if the person who died, is in a different state or country and the body needs to be shipped home. What is the usual time after death for a funeral service in your country ?
Dream Angel xx

Hi dream angel,
here(christians) they have a memorial service on the 13th day after death. this is irrespective of the burial.
Also the hindus have a similar service on the 13th day after day where as the body is cremated immediately.
So I was wondering its it has been chosen for convenience or some spiritual reasons...

I've never heard of the memorial or funeral 13th day after the buriel and I used to be Christian. We do a Wake instead, which is usually held after the funeral at the home of the family. It's usually like a party with a buffet and drinks. It is done to celebrate everything about the persons life.
