Hi Kindapsy,
I am 61 and feel most at home with younger people. I am not the slightest bit nostalgic and am focused on what is new in art, music and culture. I listen to, and play, high bpm underground dance music. My daughter picks up my music choices and spreads them to her friends, not the other way around. Although a lot of people my age are boring, and stuck in the past, It's never good to generalize about age or any other personal characteristic from just a few examples, like your parents.
