Well yes, seeing as you're already trained up it would be a shame! 
Our cat used to change direction while walking in front of me down the stairs. I think he was just toying with the idea.

Our cat used to do the same thing if he wanted feeding, he'd zig-zag in front of me the whole way down! It didn't seem to occur to the little bar-steward that I'd have a hell of a job feeding him if I broke my neck falling down the stairs!
