We are powerful beyond measure

I was watching the movie, Akeelah and the Bee, and the following quotation was displayed on a framed certificate in the home-office of her spelling coach. He asked Akeelah to read it aloud in order to help her overcome her fears about doing her best in order to compete in a National Spelling Bee.

On the strength of her resolve and diligence, Akeelah goes on to triumphantly win the Bee her 1st time, sharing it with a competitor who'd achieved 2nd place at the National level twice, before finally winning 1st place with her (3's the charm)!

The quotation is ascribed to Marianne Williamson, from her book A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Wow I really needed to read that. Thank you. My husband tells me all the time that I am TOO humble that I need to share my story and my successes. I started at such humble beginnings and it is very difficult to be open about my achievements. I will remember to SHINE not SHRINK!

Marianne Williamson is a amazing woman. She use to write a great deal on woman empowerment. She has shifted more into self help now.I just wanted to plug in how great she is.

That first part of the quote really hits home for me--

I've always been comfortable, if not always the happiest believing that I was somehow inferior. But the idea of being this powerful person is rather scary, and yet I know I'd rather be my powerful self.

Still processing a lot of fear, but it's slowly but surely being chipped away. Thanks for the little reminder, guthrie and thanks to Deepsoul for leading me here :)

As excerpted from the 1st reference, The power that is YOU also sees Itself reproduced in Its (your) mind (i.e. experienced AS you) as what you've told yourself is difficult FOR you. Accordingly, that "difficulty" will ALWAYS be the result created (i.e. manifested) BY you, just as effortlessly.......until the power you are now unconsciously wielding AS the Creator is consciously applied to create what you WANT to have, not what you want to avoid.

...and as indicated in the 2nd reference, "Fear and excitement are the same energy...you experience them differently because of what you filter them through...."

Do you see ? The same Power supports you in manifesting your life in fearful inadequacy, as It would in manifesting your life as described in the remaining portion of Marianne Williamson's affirmation....

Strange that I woke up this morning thinking about how I responded to your statement: "But the idea of being this powerful person is rather scary, and yet I know I'd rather be my powerful self."

....and was surprised that I had neglected to state the obvious....which is that:

You already are this powerful self, and have always been so.

I apologize for not stating it in my earlier post to you, but am glad to have been guided to do so now.
