My New Journal

As of right now, I have discovered my deity wants me to keep a journal of our interactions. This will be interesting as well as hard considering I have never written down something like this in such a concentrated form.

Interesting info I thought I would share. On topic comments and comments of support welcome. If anyone has any experience with this, I'd love to hear from you as well please. Your info will help me greatly and give me confidence.

Good luck with your writing, and with maintaining contact with your deity. I'll be checking in every now and then to see how things are going.

I keep a journal of most of my spiritual practices, insights, revelations, attempts, explorations, failures and on, including dreams though I never try to analyse them. By recording dreams, the most vivid bits at the instant of waking up, I get a lot of contemplative material. (Thinking about it, I must have got about 10 volumes of stuff, not that I ever refer to the earliest - well, rarely. All the talismans, sigils and (paper-drawn) vévés are still there.)

It's a great idea and if more people did it they'd find it's as good as their personal holy book! It would also let them log their progress. problems and the like, set their thoughts about their situations down. Perhaps it's too much effort for some people but I've often found among others and myself that "talking through" something in a journal is a great therapy.

I keep journals of my spiritual experiences. I have separated them, so a journal for dreams, one for runes, etc. As for Deities, you can learn a lot from Them. Since yours wants you to keep a journal it seems to me that your Deity has much to teach you and share with you. Journals build up a reference for your spiritual path and is unique to you. What you learn along the way is in bits and pieces but after a time, you might want to look back on it and see if a larger picture of your progress emerges.

This is the beginning, enjoy the journey.

It will be really fun to go back and read it a few years in the future when you've grown and progressed to a new level.

I have journals from years ago and sometimes they are difficult to read, the state of mind I was in when I wrote them is clear to me when I re-read them, but other times they are a lovely stroll down memory lane and it gives me hope for the future.

Cheers.

Also one tip I have is don't write with the intention of sharing it. That spoiled a lot of my early writing. I kept writing it as if I knew it would go out to an audience someday, a lot of what I want to read now was not written down for fear the audience would think me crazy. One day I wrote in my journal (i will NOT show this journal to anyone else!!!) and it really helped give freedom to my writing.

I have a lot of journals that I started writing in when I was a young child. I didn't see it as talking to God (apart from some obvious prayers that I wrote on occasions), but it's pretty much the same thing as I used to pour out my thoughts and feelings and some creative stuff as well. Later I wrote spiritual experiences, synchros, dreams and feelings about my personal and spiritual development. I am so grateful that I many years later I have so much to look back upon. Like Shivatar, my writing was richer for the fact it was never intended for anyone else's viewing. That said I do realise now that if anyone ever read any of it, it would give an amazing insight into the human heart, even if I do say so myself.
