Church
Long-time Spiritualist, but never considered myself religious.
By that I mean the belief of a God, or the need for prayer.
However myself and a friend for the first time attended the local SNU church yesterday evening.
I enjoyed the experience but overall not sure exactly where I fit in.
The service consisted of a couple of hymns (modern songs) then a clairvoyant performance (possibly not the best expression!), followed by another hymn, church 'notes' and then close.
The songs were nice, and I think in some ways gave me a feeling of being safe and confident in standing and singing with others
.
The clairvoyant, whilst I'm not doubting her abilities, I felt was lacking a bit, and despite my beliefs I felt a lot of generalisation and 'fishing' techniques were being used, possibly just sub-consciously to her, but with the exception of one particular connection, nothing really re-affirmed my beliefs.
Being new I'm not sure what I expected, and I will probably go again, but I'm wondering if anyone else has 'tried' the church, or perhaps goes to church?
I went as I went to rekindle my interest, around like-minded people.
My partner is a strict non-believer so it is difficult to explore at home.
Just wanted to share my thoughts really.

Well I'll share.
I was raised Catholic, went to parochial schools, but at 17 I quit church entirely as I felt no connection to catholic doctrine.
Decades later a dancer friend took me to her Spiritualist church as she felt I'd appreciate what went on there.
I'd never seen a psychic before, but was very impressed with the folks & the minister, and stayed 20yrs.
Taught me quite a lot, and evidently it was right for me.
Eventually I felt moved to leave the comfort of that spiritual family and make spiritual connections wherever I was led.

These days there are lots of options to organized religions for spiritual seekers.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
Always good to hear how other people 'got into' similar beliefs.

What's an "SNU" Church?
Thanx

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru.

I attened church occasionally. The local Spiritualist Church (not SNU) Bloomin' good it is too. I like the hymns because one, I like some of them and two, I think that the togetherness feeling brings 'power' into the room.

It's probably the biggest-single Spiritualist church denomination in the UK: though I'm told that the majority of the many Spiritualist churches there are not affiliated with it.
The US-equivalent would be the Spiritualists National Union of Churches.

I also attend my local spiritual church occasionally (i would probably go more often if i wasn't working), i like the hymns too, plus it helps to build the energy and togetherness in the room and they have a mid service guided meditation.
