Having A Difficult Time Interpreting This One...

The dream setting takes place on the side of a river with two women, one of which whom I am, but I don't actually look like myself. We are both trying to survive in the wilderness together. I claim that I can catch the biggest fish and attempt for a few days until one day the fish bites. It's a battle in the water and somehow the "fish" is in a black bag, as large as a human. We begin to pull the "fish" out of the water by it's tail, which is really two feet tied together, with one amputated foot. We are both so hungry that we don't really see this "fish" as a human/mermaid? and are so excited to eat it. My spirit comes out of my body to watch a observe, seeing that this "fish" we caught is actually a girl with gills and one foot who is terrified. The dream fades out and I wake up...

This is one of the weirdest most vivid dreams I've ever had and I am having a very difficult time trying to interpret it's meaning. Anyone care to tell me their thoughts on what it could mean?

the second woman doesn't seem "real" to me; she has no dialogue, and takes
no independent actions. the mermaid does seems real, and she is quite
likely to be an unrecognized aspect of yourself.
the character portraying you might be your ego self (?)... the boasting of
ability is a clue for that. she keeps company with a shadow friend, constructed
from imagination. the mermaid being is "submerged" and unknown; she's
involved with the things that are hidden from the ego's perspective of life.
the capture of this creature was preordained it seems -- it was "in the bag".
your spirit enters/exits the scene, and observes from a distance... with an
improved perspective than the ego self has had. i imagine the spirit you to
have compassion for the mermaid you, sensing the terror there. does the
spirit have compassion for the fisherwoman too? she'd only been 'surviving',
and had no knowledge of the nature of the caught creature.

to consume something is to make it into yourself -- to transform one into the
other. this dream seems to be about blending the varied aspects of yourself
into one whole recognizable you. the spirit has knowledge, the ego has skill,
the mermaid has emotion, together they will be ... yet to be determined.
the "shadow woman" may play a part as well (?)

The previous poster brought up some good ideas. The amputated foot might mean that something is missing from what the mermaid/girl represents.

The dream is of LUNA ..... part of self ....... the inner feminine

UNIFY this part with the other part of self (SOL) the inner masculine ~

DENY neither but UNITE them ~

How? Great question!

Choose LOVE in all situations ...... even when despite-fully being mis-treated. What BLOCKS unification is always a Judgment ........ while rational and seemingly justified ........ a clarity of deeper Realization is missing. What attacks you? Who attacks you? A: ILLUSIONS ..... MASKS .... EGOIC Conditioned minds ..... NOT THE REAL SELF of ANY!

Within you is something which SEES CLEARLY ..... Carl Jung called it the Higher SELF ....... the Hindu SELF ...... the Buddhist NO SELF ~

They are all aspects of you. The water child/fish is joy and emotion your emotional self. You are beside an 'other'.... you are cognitively thinking that the fish is to be desired and bagged and hauled up without feeling. . . call it your professional self over-analyzing things with alterior motives ignoring your deep emotions, etc. you think that the professional-cold way you are going will accomplish the objective/goal of feeding/bagging life, catching joy, etc. . . but you are unaware of the psyche-cost of this to your core soul-being. the two feet are like the two women/options of you. one amputated the other wanting to swim in the water that is spiritual emotionality spontaneous.
