Why do we desire to touch if it’s just brain signals?
Why do we desire to touch if it’s just brain signals and nerve endings we are feeling? It’s Not actually a touch but a pseudo touch??

Those brain signals serve a function, just as everything in existence serves a function.
Touch soothes the nervous system in many mammals especially us social humans.
There was a study of infants which was extremely horrifying in my opinion, touch starved infants die without being comforted and held.
Human beings, especially infants require comfort in the form of nurturing human connections, which includes nurturing touch. They quite literally die without it.
Just as we have signals to tell us to eat, to eliminate. Touch is a human need.

If it is "pseudo touch" are you saying that we are imagining it?
Sorry, I am having trouble grasping what you're meaning even though I have heard what you mention in a documentary before
Does it matter, do you what humans experience is "pseudo touch" ...if the benifit is still the same?
Considering that broadly speaking, human beings require touch. (I want to acknowledge that not all humans prefer to be touched or have lower requirements).
I feel like I have vaguely contemplated this once before but it kind of messed with my brain a little bit hehehe
Cheers :-)

i love being touched though don't get it very often. Except I finally accepted it was ok to hug my mother lol!
Well in my view one has energy fields in and around them, part of touching and being close is comingling those... I guess anyway lol...

Hello
Not big on touch or a hug as I take on that persons energy so full on. I am getting better with is. Too having been so abused its hard to take on touch that is not abuse at times.
Even being work at times by Heart's touch when in a sound sleep will trigger that fight back response. Primal survival I guess on many levels..
Too as a Medium those touch walls and boundaries have to be up with the dead so its a different journey !

According to the Hebrew Kabbalah, touch is the primordial sensation on which all others sensations and senses are based. To see, light must enter our eye and touch the occipital part of our brain, to hear, sound waves must touch and vibrate our inner ear, odor must touch our olfactory nerve in our nose for us to smell something, The sensation of touch must take place for us to experience anything. Experience itself is to connect with, or be in touch with, whatever you are experiencing. I hold the belief that we are all connected and thus in touch with each other, if only on a sublime level. No one is so isolated that they are not in touch with someone or something; hopefully they are at least in touch with themselves.

Yes I agree Starman that really makes sense.
It made me think about how i always have to touch something that I find beautiful such as artwork or something that a person has created. My friends tell me off but it just comes natural to me. I just HAVE TO touch it for some unknown reason.

I think it's because we have a mindbody union, in which our mind turns brain signals - originating from nerve endings - into experiences, and these experiences - of pleasure and pain - reinforce certain behaviours that help to keep our bodies alive.

Well, we're here on a physical planet in a physical body, having deliberately chosen for that before incarnation.
The skin is the largest organ of the physical body, so I'd say that makes it quite important :)
Apart from that, touch is related to socialising and humans are social beings, and part of sexual experience, so the continuation of our species.
Without ability or need for touch we'd be much like androids I guess, and miss out on an enormous amount of important sensory experience.
Remember Data when he had a small piece of skin in one of the movies? The joy & ecstasy he felt when he had goosebumps for the first time.
