Hypnotherapy for healing

I've been severely depressed for most of my life. Clinicians attach it to anxiety, depression and other mental illness labels. A pastor and friend refers to it as a spiritual sickness, he also says that I'm a very spiritual person but need balance. Unsurprisingly, when I speak with them, neither one tend to agree with the other or understand the other's perspective. I've tried CBT, therapy, group therapy, medication, books, faith, religion, God, inner work and have grown a lot over the last several, especially the last few years. Unfortunately, this state-of-mind has shrunk my life significantly. There's no one in my life I can truly open up to about this and I've reached a stage in which I know I won't be able to cope any longer with this continuous state of despair.

Years ago a therapist did mention hypnotherapy to me, but I dismissed the idea because it sounded expensive and I doubted I'd be able to afford it. Since then, I've heard it come up now and then and I want to explore that option again. My hope is that I'll be able to find balance (spiritual, emotional, physical, mental, etc) or, in the very least, further strengthen the seeds to be able to achieve this goal. Depression is more or less driven by negativity and I want to be able to have more solid control over the negativity that plagues my thoughts (and thus, my life).

So, I'm exploring new ways of healing and I hope Hypnotherapy would be helpful in this context. Would I be able to get feedback on it?

I did it for the first time this past Wednesday..DO it. I did it for a different reason..to find whether my 'manic episodes' were actually signs that I had some true spiritual experiences/realizations. Everyone's always told me I'm crazy and threw me in the hospital.

But going to it was one of the best experiences I've had..and very informative about the stuff that had been going on.

It lasted 4 hrs. and I was physically and emotionally exhausted at the end. Such a great experience...

I decided as well as you that something had to be done/figured about the manic label before I could grow again...I learned everything I thought about Consciousness was true...I had never talked about it or heard these views from anyone else...It's like I just got lit up..hah..and I learn more every time.

My view on was that I needed to try something different..lol...why not? You should too! Be well. :)

TesseLated, thanks for the response. I'm glad it was able to help you and you had a positive experience. I know what you mean and I just feel I need to do something different for my health and well-being. May I ask how did you go about finding a hypnotherapist? Were you conscious throughout the entire session?

What prompted me to go to one in the first place-besides wanting to find out the earlier mentioned situation-was the cutting off of a relationship-one I truly cared about. It caused me so much pain that I knew I had to heal that part of myself which was not being able to trust. Those two reasons combined made me seek for this.

Long story short, I looked up the names...I googled 'shaman' (based on reading info) and my location...and it gave me a few links..I went through these and picked out the one I believed had the best qualifications to help me w/my particular issues.

I remembered everything I experienced w/her. I was conscious...but with that 'pushed back'..so I was streaming my real thoughts-unguarded-I guess you would say...so unconscious. It was extremely exhausting...but it was a good kind...took 3 and a half hours. IT WAS AMAZING! It was a little expensive-yes-but if you want a good way to invest in yourself...your energy..This would be a good way...a great way.

I think we are meant to find that right person to help us when we are ready...You just need to ask/seek for it.

I'm not done w/this journey of exploring my Self..so I'm not 'finished' with seeing her..She has suggested maybe seeing an intuitive.

I hope this will help you in your search for meaning...we all need that to grow. It IS possible to feel better..Know that.
