Looks like Jesus forgot his own rules...
Jesus: "But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell." Matthew 5:21
Jesus: "You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?" Matthew 23:17
Jesus may have a hard time coming back...when he's in hell. LOL!
This is for all those that still insist that the bible is inerrant and infallible like so many have insisted throughout the centuries.
Looks like this slipped by one of the editors. LOL

Jesus did descended to hell before he rose again. That is even part of the Apostles creed that is said in mass.
Now, I'm sure there will be many that will come in and speak of the esoteric meaning of what this meant. About death of the ego, descending into the ego to overcome it, etc.

Theres WAY more contradictions in the bible then that. But we have to realize that it was written over thousands of years, only to be put together, and generalized, dispite the fact that it wasnt really meant to be universal.
Theyve been translated so many times, and back again over the years, told by mouth, written down... The OT is though to have been written by different writers over a thousnd years, and each writer had a group of scribes to write it down. Many words mean different things in different languages, so some words are a bit clouded in diffferent translations ( lucifer is a good example, so is kill/murder int he ten commandments).
ITs a book on the jewish way of life. Yhwh, Baal/beezlebub ( usualy in reference to satan, but it actualy translates, and is in reference to Baal, who it self is referenceing dizens of different dieties), El.. all of these are cannan/isreal/ holy land areas dieties. Many storys are actual reproductions of other societies gods, and or myths ( moses, some say jesus, noah to name a few), even the ten commandments seem to be rippe doff directly form the egyptian book of the dead, just reworded.
The main thing is to not treat it as literal. IT was meant to be anything but so. The OT/torah, was finalized as a moral booster, when they were taken as slaves or what not to mesapotamia/babylonia. CIrcumcision was thought to be a way of seperating themselves from the babylonians, and so was catholic./christianity before it was such.

I really wonder how well it would go over if I went to the Wicca forums and started picking apart that religion, or Paganism? I somehow feel it wouldn't be tolerated at all (I don't mean by the admins I mean by the other forum goers.) But its perfectly OK to come to the Christianity forums and rip on that religion and its followers?

Jesus is able to see into peoples' minds so he knows which people really are fools. We don't have that kind of knowledge so that is why we don't have the right to call anyone a fool.

We owe it to each other to "pick apart" our religions. You have to admit, it is a relevant criticism, and will prove constructive if people truly analyze the validity of cherished concepts.

No, it's not necessary to "pick apart" other people's religions. Worry about your own house first imo.
