Few have (recently) expressed-illustrated it as clearly as Eckhart Tolle
The stillness is right there, in his pauses.
Adyashanti also seems to create the experience in his talks. But Eckhardt opened a door for me.
Or rather I should say ,he helped me remember how simple meditation can be.

Could you explain how simple the meditation is, because the vid is an hour and a half long.

What does it mean exactly to be still .... I know this isn't necessarily a black or white answer ... or the answer may be different for different people, but I'm curious as to what everyone thinks "being still" might mean.

Hi njbr1111, In my understanding being still defines, no action, no reaction, to reflect without personal interference, in all conditions of natural experience. As a Spiritual reflection it identifies example as reflective instruction, as two may be `one` in stillness.

I'm certain many attending paid good money for that 90 minute talk!
Many spend years trying to learn meditation.
Yeah there ARE much shorter clips where he presents the info....somewhere, but I couldn't locate one in time.
It certainly may not work-help everyone, but many many have benefited from his teaching.... it's not in the words as much as in the presentation..IMO
One needn't watch the entire thing to get the essence, (at all.)
I watched 10 hrs of his seminar with Oprah , and considered it time well spent, for what I gained.

It might have to do with an approach Tolle shares in his book The Power of Now.
It involves focusing on the silence between spoken words or between any sounds in general. I've tried this myself and often achieve a very relaxed state of peace that's amazing.

Well, I suspect the money talks, and the talk is cheap. It's the pauses that attracts the big bucks ay? Teehee
I'm merely inquiring how you would say 'how simple meditation can be.'

Is this thread one where people preach from the book of Tolle, or is it a thread where ones speak for themselves.
I remember a Little video I had here somewhere which was from Jiddu Krishnamurti... and it's only a minute long.
