Gifts From The Crows
A young girl feeds wild crows - and they bring her 'gifts' as a "thank you" in return.
Charming!

I found this quite moving. Those crows are giving items they consider precious as thanks for food.
Not only that, but to connect and interact with the human...and the returned lens-cap was moving too.
It's beautiful actually.
I see a few crows around. Some of them watch me. They never come to the bird-table but maybe I could try to give them some treats. I'm not 'fishing' for gifts from them, but this article has made me think deeper about them.

i'm so jealous! i rehabbed a crow w/ an injured wing and all i got for my altruistic efforts was viciously pecked fingers and insulting curses cawed at me by my patient's murder for keeping their wounded flock mate caged.
i felt so misunderstood. hehehe!

That's just it. You were misunderstood. They probably had never experienced any human kindness before, so knew or expected nothing better.
I'm sure they think differently of you now.
Either way, you did a noble thing - and a noble deed stands forever.
A blessing on your soul.

oh i loved that cantankerous bird. he was so smart that i had to double lock his cage b/c he figured out of to open it. i'm really just joking anyway because freeing him and seeing him take wing and rejoin his faithful murder was awesome reward enough.

Internal Queries that must have been wonderful watching your crow fly off. I loved reading about the young girl and her crows too, thank you KofA.
When my husband was a boy he found a baby crow that had fallen from the nest (he didn't know then that you aren't supposed to take them home because the parents are still watching and caring for them)
He raised the crow, Rodney, and they became best friends, Rodney had the most amazing personality and very intelligent. He was never kept in a cage. The trouble started when Rodney started perching on the next door neighbours pram and peering in at the baby, then Rodney had to go. My husband would trek for miles with Rodney in a box and let him go, but when he got home Rodney would be there waiting for him!
Eventually Rodney flew off on his own accord but still came back for visits
