Close to projecting?
Last night I had something interesting occur, quite different from my normal experiences with astral projection. So this is what happened; fully relaxed, I lay and time felt like it was going by very quickly. After about 10-20 minutes, I began to see bright bluish-white stars, where I seemed to be nearing closer to. This occurred multiple times before another interesting thing happened. 40-50 minutes through my meditational state, my legs, from the waist down, started to contract and beat violently. It felt as though they were going to burst. As this was happening my breathing became very restricted. I had to force air in as little was coming through my lungs. At this point I fought the suffocated feeling and entered once again into a deep relaxed state. However I didn't astral project, I lay for another 20 minutes and gave up.
This is another problem with projecting. I can maintain a very deep level of relaxation, but never enter the vibrational state from where your astral body exits.
Was this any form of entering a near astral projection experience?

You may have been phasing. It's another way of astral projecting. That's just what it sounds like to me. It seems like if you had continued to stare into the stars and forget about even having a body and just drift off with it, you would have ended up somewhere. It's more of a way of projecting your consciousness instead of using an "astral body". You are a point of consciousness travelling to other dimensions. This is essentially what is happening when we leave in our astral bodies, but we are just perceiving it a different way. I know this is probably confusing, but anyway Robert Monroe used phasing.
