What determines a old soul vs young soul?

To my understanding there is so called 'old' souls and young souls. Old souls being the ones who have evolved more and are more likely to become enlightened on earth.

However, if all souls have been around forever and will continue to live forever. How does one become a old soul? Technically all souls are the same in terms of 'age' (I do realise time it is not easy to use time as a marker here).

I know most people will say that a old soul has had more incarnations and has learnt more over their lives whereas the young soul hasn't. But, if the young soul hasn't been on earth, what has it been doing? Watching tele? I mean what is there for a soul to do if it is not on earth??

Interesting question Tony, sounds like this is one of those questions that no one really knows for sure what the answer is ..... but you will probably get lots of opinions on what people think the answer is. I hope you find what you are looking for.

I've read about an article long ago, the author was psychic herself and she claimed that she knows her past lives. She wrote that you can determine how old/strong your soul is just by knowing which energy center you are comfortable with. strong ones can easily do spiritual/psychic activities and often have strong vibrations as well.

Kind of makes sense for me.

Hmm. Maybe the number of past lives a particular soul has went through? I'm not sure.

I use to believe it was related to the actual soul but I have changed my view. I now see it as the age of the lesson the soul is going through. Personalities are developed that help the soul learn a particular lesson like loss or self love. It can take many lives and many personality incarnations to learn that lesson and the soul is old to me means the lesson is close to being learned. This said, I kind of think the soul can start all over again as a young soul so to speak when/if they start a new/different lesson. At least that is what I theorize now but my mind could change again. But in general I don't see it as a reference to actual soul age just earth age. There are other plains of reality a soul can go to, to learn lessons so some may have been hanging around earth for some time while others have been doing other things.

An old soul is one who has been incarnating many incarnations in the Free Will Universe we live in. A young soul has been elsewhere living other realities and has just entered our Universe.

i am 22 years old, but there situations which occur and makes me think and feel that i am more to what my age has to say....i get along very well with people who are pretty elder to me....:)

The old soul is typically more in touch with the subtler natures of reality and doesn't care as much about trivial 3rd dimensional things like power, money, emotion, etc. Its likely many of the people on the more new age spiritual forums are old souls and have reached heights of spiritual ability and knowledge in past lives. They're also the ones more aware that spirituality is the most important part of life and that the rest is only temporary.

A younger soul is still on lessons involving these 3d things and thus thinks of them as important. They're often more preoccupied with money, power, drama, etc. than spiritual or philosophical matters.
