Its the same with gambling then even purchasing a lotto ticket is against your religion, is because it causes addiction and pain in others, then its can be admirable quality of just decent morals that you have. Casinos are scary because you can loose lots. the people that won on that day could be hooked, plain and simple, they may return again and again to try and repeat the win causing more suffering. I would not be envious, but understand the risks, its like softly softly catch the monkey.

It's not against any religious beliefs of mine. But, gambling was considered a vice. I say " was " since it is now legal where I live. However, it can become addictive, just like alcohol, drugs, and pornography.

This is why I'm thinking maybe why I'm just not doing so good, at the lottery and casinos, I have those beliefs deeply imbedded into my mind, that it's morally wrong. Just like pornography, prostitution, drug and alcohol use, gambling, no matter legal or not, may just be morally wrong.

Last night, a nephew of mine and myself went. We both lost. The casino was packed for a Thursday afternoon and evening. I've already been to this same casino on a Sunday, and, it was packed midafternoon.

Lots of people gamble, there has to be many that become addicted to it.

Anyway, something I need to ponder, should I fight my Subconscious Mind about this, or, let it go. Thinking about letting it go.

I do kinda feel maybe don't go to the casinos, but, spend a couple a dollars a week just to play this State's lottery. Maybe the SM will be good to me on that, at least.

There have been a handful of people who claim they won a major lottery using the Law of Attraction. A handful.

It would be far more credible if this handful of people gathered to publish a book or blog about their LOA experience ...
Sometime ago there was a show about major lottery winners, most all attributed their win to good fortune/luck ...
One said she had a feeling to buy the ticket at a particular store ...
And it also revealed its consequences = greed, self indulgence, etc ...
Just remember if you find a penny or any small denomination of currency, you are still attracting money for whatever reason ...
Could be a reminder from a deceased relative or friend or spirit guide that you are loved or not alone or you will be okay ...

Hi rodan. If you are seeking wealth as a source of happiness you will inevitably find sorrow. You don,t need wealth to be happy. If you depend on wealth and material things as your source of happiness you will never be happy for long.If you believe that wealth is a virtue then it will serve only as a vice. You are looking in the wrong place for happiness.Even if you win the lottery and you have all the money in the world in you back pocket , what use is it to you ? At the inevitable moment of your death ,what use will wealth be to you then.Work with what you have, create your own happiness through your own honest efforts.Wealth is overrated. For a LOT of people, wealth is a poisonous vice. IMO

Greetings Everyone:

I happened upon "The Secret" on NetFlix the other night and could only manage to watch about 30 minutes of it.

The program was like an info-mercial--where they employ the hard-sell and the people promoting the idea looked manic.

The idea of placing all of your focus on personal gain makes me very uncomfortable--there is much more to living a good life--than simply spending that life in a quest to attain material things.

As to the original question--the idea of "Vice" is based on the "7 Deadly Sins".

A vice is identified by what that particular desire does to the individual (and) whether (or not) engaging in the behavior interferes with the individual's ability to lead a stable life and meet their obligations.

Some people can play the lottery, drink, etc.--sparingly--and then get on with life. Others become obsessed--to the point where it is all they think about and--when they do not get what they desire--they become impatient and upset. Still others--will blow their whole paycheck at the corner store.

Only you can find the courage to see yourself (clearly) and determine where you need to go from here.

Peace and Love on the path of your choice...

Blessed be...
