I have found several websites that were helpful on the subject...
Do you have a New Age or Metaphysical shop near where you live?
Also - there are many paths that use scrying - I feel personally that if this is a way that you connect with the divine that regardless of your belief system it is definitely something to practice... it cant hurt! - It is an ancient practice used by tons of civilizations for centuries.
The Maya and Aztecs used Black Obsidian for scrying.
I found this on Wikipedia:
"The Shahnameh, a historical epic work written in the late 10th century, gives a description of what was called the Cup of Jamshid or Jaam-e Jam, used in pre-Islamic Persia, which was used by wizards and practitioners of the esoteric sciences for observing all of the seven layers of the universe. The cup contained an elixir of immortality."
Another form is Lecanomancy which comes from Ancient Babylonia and involves a dish of water.
Hydromancy is Greek water divination
Scyphomancy is divination using a cup or goblet - one of the oldest methods from Ancient Egypt and Persia
And with a mirror - Catoptromancy -
"Pausanias, an ancient Greek traveler, described as follows:
Before the Temple of Ceres at Patras, there was a fountain, separated from the temple by a wall, and there was an oracle, very truthful, not for all events, but for the sick only. The sick person let down a mirror, suspended by a thread till its base touched the surface of the water, having first prayed to the goddess and offered incense. Then looking in the mirror, he saw the presage of death or recovery, according as the face appeared fresh and healthy, or of a ghastly aspect."
Hope this helps!
