The idea is that we do not directly perceive the physical dimension while out of body. Rather, we perceive a nonphysical energetic reflection of the physical world, an energetic copy of it. If there is clarity of perception, then the energetic copy (the Real-Time-Zone) will be an accurate reflection of the physical dimension. However, the nature of nonphysical reality is fluid and receptive to subconscious manifestations and alterations, so it is possible that what we see in the RTZ is actually a distortion or a complete fabrication of the higher mind.

There are many documented cases in which someone's spirit leaves their body during surgery and hovers near the ceiling looking down.
